Burlington Opens New Store on Jones Road with $5,000 Donation to Francone Elementary Teachers

April 04 2025

Burlington has opened its doors in the Cy-Fair community, bringing more than just brand-name bargains to northwest Houston. During its grand opening on March 28, the national retailer marked the occasion with a $5,000 donation to Francone Elementary School—an investment in local educators that signals the company’s commitment to the community it now calls home.

The new store, located at 10787 Jones Road in the Steeplechase area near Jersey Village, officially welcomed shoppers after completing a $2.02 million renovation of the former 99 Cent Only Store. To celebrate Burlington's grand opening, the donation was awarded to Francone Elementary because of its close proximity to the store and its service to the same Cy-Fair neighborhood.

“We are beyond excited to be the recipients of this donation,” said Kimberly Harthorn, principal of Francone Elementary School. “It is so nice for a business in the community to also recognize all of the hard work that our teachers do on a daily basis.”

The $5,000 donation will be distributed among Francone’s homeroom teachers, who can use the funds through the Adopt-a-Classroom program to purchase essential school supplies and educational materials for their classrooms.

For Burlington, the gift is more than a symbolic gesture. It reflects a business model built not only on affordability but also on local engagement. With more than 1,000 stores nationwide, Burlington has evolved from its origins as a coat factory in New Jersey into a full-scale off-price retailer offering apparel, accessories, and home décor—always with an emphasis on value.

The grand opening of the Jones Road location brings a new retail option to residents in the Cy-Fair and Jersey Village areas, but it also marks the start of what Burlington hopes will be a lasting relationship with the community. By supporting a neighborhood school from day one, the retailer looks to be more than just another store—it aims to be a neighbor.

As northwest Harris County continues to grow, Burlington’s presence offers both economic investment and grassroots support, starting with the teachers shaping the future inside Francone Elementary.
