Bridgeland Wins Softball District Title; Six CFISD Teams Enter Playoffs

The District 16-6A and District 17-6A softball seasons ended on April 19 with six CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL Class 6A playoffs.

Bridgeland High School won the District 16-6A championship, posting a 13-1 record in district play. Langham Creek High School and Cypress Woods High School both completed the season with 11-3 records and flipped for postseason seeding. The Lobos will enter the playoffs as the district’s second seed and the Wildcats are the district’s third seed. Cypress Ranch High School placed fourth with a 9-5 record.

The following District 16-6A teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Bridgeland vs. Tomball
    • Game 1 – 5 p.m. on April 26 at Tomball High School (30330 Quinn Road);
    • Game 2 – 1 p.m. on April 27 at Bridgeland High School (10707 Mason Road); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 3 p.m. on April 27 at Bridgeland High School.
  • Langham Creek will face Waller at 6:30 p.m. on April 26 at Cypress Ridge High School (7900 N. Eldridge Parkway).
  • Cypress Woods vs. Klein Collins
    • Game 1 – 6 p.m. on April 26 at Cypress Woods High School (13550 Woods-Spillane Blvd.);
    • Game 2 – noon on April 27 at Klein Collins High School (20811 Ella Blvd.); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2 on April 27 at Klein Collins High School.
  • Cypress Ranch vs. Klein Oak
    • Game 1 – 6:30 p.m. on April 26 at Klein Oak High School (22603 Northcrest Drive);
    • Game 2 – 10 a.m. on April 27 at Cypress Ranch High School (10700 Fry Road); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – noon on April 27 at Cypress Ranch High School.

Cy-Fair High School placed second in District 17-6A with a 12-2 record. Cypress Creek went 9-5 in district to finish third.

Both the Bobcats and Cougars will enter the UIL Region III-7A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cy-Fair vs. Houston Bellaire
    • Game 1 – 7 p.m. on April 26 at Butler Stadium (13755 S. Main St.);
    • Game 2 – 11 a.m. on April 27 at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2 on April 27 at Cy-Fair High School.
  • Cypress Creek will play Houston Heights at 6:30 p.m. on April 26 at Cypress Falls High School (9811 Huffmeister Road).

Tickets for Bridgeland, Langham Creek, Cypress Woods, Cypress Ranch, Cy-Fair and Cypress Creek are $5 a piece (adults and students) and will be sold online.
