Bridgeland Softball Ends Season at State; Trinity Allen Named to All-Tournament TeamÂ
The Bridgeland High School softball ended its historic season with the program’s and CFISD’s first-ever appearance in the UIL Softball State Tournament on June 2. The Bears finished as Class 6A state semifinalists, while senior third baseman Trinity Allen was voted to the classification’s All-Tournament Team.
Bridgeland was defeated by Denton Guyer, 6-3, in the semifinals.
For the Bears, the state berth was the first in program history and capped a season in which they were District 16-6A co-champions and met Langham Creek High School in an all-CFISD regional final. They won the best-of-three series, earning the Region II-6A championship and trip to state.
The Bridgeland senior class helped lead the program to three consecutive postseason appearances, including the 2021 regional semifinals and 2022 regional quarterfinals.
“We made history,” said Candi Weige, Bridgeland head softball coach. “These girls have worked for four years to be able to get to this point and these seniors have busted their butts to lead this team. It just speaks volumes of what we were able to accomplish.”
Allen was voted to the all-tournament team by members of the Texas Girls Coaches Association. She reached base in all three plate appearances against Denton Guyer, notching two singles and being hit by pitch. Allen also recorded a stolen base, scored Bridgeland’s first run and assisted on two defensive plays.
