Bridgeland, Cy Ranch Win District Swimming Championships
The Bridgeland High School boys’ swim team and the Cypress Ranch High School girls’ swim team claimed the District 18-6A titles at the district meets, held Jan. 26-27 at the CFISD Natatorium.
The Bridgeland boys won with a score of 189, followed by runner-up Cypress Ranch (146.50) and third place Jersey Village High School (62). The Cypress Ranch girls placed first with a score of 193, Bridgeland placed second with 172 points and Langham Creek High School placed third with 46 points.
Cypress Ranch Head Coach Richard Carnicle was named the District 18-6A’s Girls’ Coach of the Year, while Bridgeland Head Coach Bob Perkins was named the District 18-6A Boys’ Coach of the Year.
Bridgeland junior Haasini Prabhakar was named the 18-6A Girls’ Swimmer of the Meet and fellow Bridgeland teammate freshman Jackson Hartzler was named the 18-6A Boys’ Swimmer of the Meet. Langham Creek junior Jailen Cervantes was named the 18-6A Girls’ Diver of the Meet and Cypress Springs High School senior Caden Feith was named the 18-6A Boys’ Diver of the Meet.
In District 17-6A, the Cypress Woods High School boys placed third overall with a score of 95, making the Wildcats the highest placing CFISD boys’ team. The Cy-Fair High School girls placed second overall with a score of 144, making the Bobcats the highest placing girls’ team.
Cy-Fair senior Ella Smoker was named the District 17-6A Girls’ Swimmer of the Meet and Cypress Woods senior Benjamin Romig was named the 17-6A Boys’ Diver of the Meet.
The top six individuals and relays advance to the regional competition, to be held Feb. 8-10 at the CFISD Natatorium. Click here for a full listing of the qualifying relays.
