“We are so incredibly proud of the Cypress Woods High School band and NOVA Dance Company students for advancing to the UIL State Marching Band Contest for a fifth time and having the opportunity to represent CFISD alongside Cy-Fair and Bridgeland high schools,” said T.J. Peterman, Cypress Woods head band director. “We are continuously inspired by the students’ grit, determination, resiliency, perseverance and graciousness in everything that they do, and look forward to celebrating their hard work in San Antonio next week.”
CFISD marching bands participated in the area contest, alongside bands from Alief ISD, Houston ISD, Katy ISD, Spring Branch ISD and Waller ISD. There were no final performances due to weather delays throughout the day.
“We are proud of all of our CFISD bands that performed last Saturday at the UIL Area I Marching Band Contest,” said John Morrison, director of fine arts. “Weather conditions during much of the day proved to be a challenge for several schools and our students handled those challenges head on and were able to deliver some really fantastic performances for the crowd.”
