For residents of Richmond and greater Fort Bend County, Art In The Bend is more than a festival—it’s a reflection of the community’s identity, creativity, and continued growth. Set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the one-day event will once again bring life to historic Morton Street, offering a walkable, family-friendly experience rooted in local culture.

From homeowners and families to small business owners and artists, the event represents something tangible: a thriving downtown, increased visibility for local talent, and a shared sense of pride in Richmond’s evolving story.

As one of the premier art festivals in Fort Bend County, Art In The Bend blends art, shopping, live music, and interactive experiences—creating an environment where residents don’t just attend, but actively participate in shaping their community.

Why Art In The Bend Matters to Richmond Residents

Events like Art In The Bend play a critical role in strengthening Downtown Richmond’s economic vitality and cultural relevance. By drawing visitors to Morton Street, the festival supports local businesses, highlights historic landmarks, and reinforces Richmond’s identity as a destination for arts and community engagement.

For families, it offers a safe, engaging space for connection. For artists, it provides visibility and opportunity. And for the broader community, it’s a reminder that Richmond continues to grow while honoring its roots.

Organized by the Historic Richmond Association—a 100% volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3)—the festival reflects decades of commitment to preserving and promoting the city’s historic downtown. Supported by Develop Richmond, the City of Richmond, and community sponsors, the organization reinvests directly into the community through events, donations, and partnerships.

Meet 2026 Featured Artist Sarah Beth Baca

At the heart of this year’s festival is featured artist Sarah Beth Baca, a Houston-based visual artist whose work blends storytelling, personal history, and social reflection.

Baca, a graduate of Houston Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, has built an international following through both solo and group exhibitions. Her work spans watercolor and mixed media compositions, often characterized by intricate linework, bold color palettes, and layered textures.

Her art is deeply personal, drawing from childhood memories, experiences within the church, and her work alongside under-resourced communities. Through these influences, Baca creates narrative-driven pieces that invite viewers into meaningful, and often complex, conversations.

“Art has given me a voice when I don’t feel heard and visibility when I don’t feel seen,” Baca says.

That perspective shapes much of her work. Her subjects—often heroines and saints—serve as symbolic representations of individuals who have historically been overlooked or marginalized. Through a balance of whimsy and depth, her pieces explore themes such as faith, identity, and social equity while maintaining a sense of hope and restoration.

Despite addressing weighty topics, Baca’s work carries a light, expressive quality. Her compositions often feel energetic and immersive, with decorative patterns and playful elements that draw viewers in while encouraging reflection.

Her ability to merge storytelling with visual artistry aligns closely with the mission of Art In The Bend—creating space for both creativity and conversation within the community.

Baca lives and works in the Greater Houston area with her husband, Brandon, and their three children.
