Jersey Village Earns Film Friendly Texas Certification, Opening Doors to New Opportunities and Economic Growth

August 15 2024

In an exciting development, Governor Greg Abbott has declared the City of Jersey Village as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. Distinguishing itself through the completion of a rigorous training and certification program, Jersey Village is officially recognized by the Texas Film Commission, according to a press release issued by officials.

Governor Abbott commended Jersey Village's achievement, expressing his commitment to support communities of all sizes throughout Texas. "Texas is brimming with promise, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed," he said. The Governor also highlighted the economic impacts of the Film Friendly Texas program, stating that it "helps match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as spurring on-site spending at local businesses."

Jersey Village now joins the ranks of more than 175 Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities, gaining access to ongoing training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission. The Commission's aim is to promote the state as the ideal destination for various media productions, from film and television to animation and video games. It has been instrumental in attracting over $2 billion in local spending and creating more than 183,000 production jobs across the state from 2007 to 2023.

Senator Paul Bettencourt echoed the Governor's sentiments, describing Jersey Village as a "charming, classic small Texas city." He applauded the efforts of Governor Abbott and the Texas Film Commission in bestowing Jersey Village with the Film Friendly Texas Community designation, referring to it as a "small town with great plans."

The Film Friendly Texas designation not only bolsters the community's economy through job creation and local spending but also helps to shine a spotlight on the charm and appeal of the city. Jersey Village Mayor Bobby Warren expressed excitement over the designation. He emphasized how this achievement signifies the city's commitment to fostering a creative industry which will "bring new opportunities for local talent, create jobs, and boost our local economy."
