Fort Bend County Officials Announce Completion of Storm Debris Cleanup

September 09 2024

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, which left a devastating trail of vegetative storm debris across communities two months ago, Fort Bend County Road and Bridge announced completion of the storm debris pickup. Over the course of 60 days, Fort Bend County and contractor crews have collected over 550,000 cubic yards of storm debris, according to reports by officials.

In a memo released on September 6, 2024, by Scott Wieghat, the Road Commissioner of Fort Bend County Road and Bridge, the debris removal contractor has made a final pass of storm debris collection. Moving forward, the responsibility for debris produced from reconstruction activities, such as new fencing or roofing, will fall on homeowners or contractors undertaking the work.
