Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with Food, Fun, and Pet Adoptions at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston
This Memorial Day weekend, City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility, BARC, is hosting a fun-filled family event aimed at celebrating pets and encouraging animal adoption. On Saturday, May 25th, between 12 PM and 4 PM, BARC invites Houston area residents to enjoy a day of food, fun, and the chance to meet lovable pets in need of a new home.
BARC provides a safe haven for animals in need and promotes responsible pet ownership, intaking over 20,000 animals annually. This Memorial Day weekend, they are once again reinforcing their commitment to animal welfare by taking a unique approach - combining a celebratory event with their primary mission of encouraging animal adoption.
The party begins with a free feast of hot dogs, burgers, chips, and drinks, generously provided by the Friends of BARC, allowing attendees to enjoy a meal while interacting with a host of adorable pets ready to be adopted. The atmosphere promises to be lively and heartwarming, making this a must-attend event for all animal lovers.
The animal shelter is further sweetening the deal by reducing adoption fees for the duration of the weekend. From May 25th to May 26th, between 12 PM and 5 PM, potential pet owners can adopt adult dogs aged five months or older for just $20, while selected pets, referred to as 'PURRFURRED,' are available for a mere $5. All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines.
This event will be held at 3300 Carr St., Houston, TX, 77026 and presents not only an opportunity to provide a loving home for animals in need, but also a chance for families to add a new member. So whether you are an experienced pet parent or considering adopting for the first time, BARC's Memorial Day event is the perfect occasion to explore the wonderful world of pet ownership while contributing positively to the community.
