What’s Happening This Fall at The Woodlands Children’s Museum: Storytimes, Pirates, Opera & More
Families in and around The Woodlands have long counted on The Woodlands Children’s Museum as a playful, engaging space for young minds to grow—and this fall, the museum is delivering another memorable season packed with special events, creative workshops, and joyful learning.
A Mission of Discovery Through Play
Founded in 2001, The Woodlands Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a clear mission: to educate, empower, and excite children and families through the power of play. Everything—from its colorful exhibits and multicultural programming to its community partnerships—is rooted in that vision. The museum strongly emphasizes the importance of play in early childhood development, viewing it as essential to building physical skills, communication, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, creativity, and cultural awareness.
Located at 4775 West Panther Creek Drive #280, The Woodlands, TX 77381, The Woodlands Children’s Museum is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Sundays and Mondays). The museum invites families to visit again and again—with general admission priced at $9 for adults and children ages 1 and up.
September Highlights: Pirates, Authors & Opera
There’s no shortage of imaginative experiences on deck for families this month.
On Saturday, September 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., the museum will host a Special Author Visit with Marcus Bridgewater, author of See Marcus Grow. Inspired by lessons he learned in his grandmother’s garden, Marcus’s story teaches young readers about growth, empathy, and the surprising ways we’re connected to nature. The reading will be followed by a meet-and-greet and book signing.
Then on Tuesday, September 10, in partnership with The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the museum will present Storybook Opera from the Houston Grand Opera. This family-friendly program offers an interactive, 20–30-minute introduction to opera performed by professional singers. September’s feature is Maria’s Magical Musical Adventure, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
And what would a fall at the museum be without a little swashbuckling adventure?
Families can set sail on a pirate-themed journey through the museum during the upcoming Pirate and Mermaid Day on Saturday, September 20, complete with treasure hunts, sea-worthy storytelling, and photo ops. Ariel meet-and-greets will take place at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., and you can spot your favorite pirates at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.Ms. Jan will share storytime tales at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This event is included with the regular $9 admission.

Designed to support cognitive development through hands-on activities like sorting, building, and pretend play, these small-group workshops are led by experienced educators and nurture critical thinking and creativity in young learners.
