Whataburger Now Open at Texas Heritage Marketplace Near Brookshire, Adding a 24-Hour Dining Option Along I-10

For residents traveling between Brookshire, Katy and the fast-growing communities along the western edge of the Houston area, there is now another place to stop for a burger, breakfast or late-night meal without watching the clock.

Whataburger has opened at 925 Texas Heritage Parkway near Brookshire, becoming one of the newest restaurants at Texas Heritage Marketplace, the major mixed-use retail development taking shape at the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Texas Heritage Parkway.

The new Whataburger offers 24-hour dine-in, drive-thru and delivery service, while curbside pickup is available daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For nearby residents, commuters and families juggling school, sports and work schedules, those hours make the restaurant one of the development's more flexible dining options.

New Whataburger joins growing Texas Heritage Marketplace

The opening is another visible sign of how quickly the I-10 and Texas Heritage Parkway intersection is changing.

NewQuest describes Texas Heritage Marketplace as a 750,000-plus-square-foot mixed-use retail and regional destination under construction. The development is positioned to serve a growing stretch of west Katy and surrounding communities, including Jordan Ranch, Tamarron, Willow Creek Farms, Cross Creek Ranch, Firethorne, Young Ranch and other residential areas.

The development brochure identifies Whataburger as a roughly 3,305-square-foot restaurant and places it among a substantial lineup of national and regional businesses planned, leased or proposed for the project. The tenant directory includes names such as Target, Sam's Club, Lowe's, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Burlington, Ulta Beauty, Spec's, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Cheddar's, CAVA, EōS Fitness, James Avery, Bath & Body Works, Jersey Mike's and Dave's Hot Chicken, among others.

That mix is intended to create something larger than a neighborhood shopping center. According to NewQuest's marketing materials, Texas Heritage Marketplace is being developed as the first major regional retail project serving several nearby master-planned communities.

Why this corner of Brookshire and west Katy is attracting retailers

The numbers behind the development help explain the growing commercial interest.

NewQuest reports approximately 144,545 residents within five miles of Texas Heritage Marketplace and cites substantial population growth between 2020 and 2025. Its materials also point to thousands of future homes in the surrounding area and continued residential development along the west Katy growth corridor.

Texas Heritage Parkway itself has also changed how residents move through the area. The completed roadway provides a roughly 6.5-mile connection between FM 1093 near Fulshear and I-10, giving communities south of the interstate another direct route to the freeway and the businesses developing around it.

For families in nearby neighborhoods, that means the Whataburger opening is part of a broader shift: more everyday restaurants, stores and services are arriving closer to homes that once required a longer drive toward established Katy retail centers.

A Texas-born burger chain with more than 1,100 restaurants

Whataburger arrives at Texas Heritage Marketplace with a history stretching back more than seven decades.

Entrepreneur Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger on Aug. 8, 1950, in Corpus Christi, with the idea of creating a hamburger large enough to require two hands. The company later became known for its orange-and-white branding and highly customizable, made-to-order food.

What began as a single Texas burger stand has since expanded well beyond the state. Whataburger's current company information lists more than 1,100 restaurants across 17 states, with its headquarters in San Antonio.

Its menu has also grown considerably since the original hamburger. Today's Whataburger restaurants serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with choices including burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, shakes, biscuits, pancakes and other breakfast items. The company continues to emphasize made-to-order customization as a defining part of its menu.

For many Texans, however, Whataburger is less a newcomer than a familiar roadside constant. The new Brookshire location simply brings that familiar orange-and-white presence into one of the area's newest commercial hubs.

What to know before visiting the new Brookshire Whataburger

The restaurant is located at 925 Texas Heritage Parkway, Brookshire, TX 77494, near I-10 and the Texas Heritage Marketplace development.

Current service hours include:

  • Drive-thru: 24 hours
  • Dine-in: 24 hours
  • Delivery: 24 hours
  • Curbside pickup: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

Construction filings previously associated with the Whataburger project described a new fast-food restaurant with dine-in and drive-thru service, approximately 3,335 square feet, with an estimated construction cost of $2.5 million.

With the restaurant now open, another piece of Texas Heritage Marketplace has moved from a site plan to something residents can actually use.

And as additional tenants open across the development, the intersection of I-10 and Texas Heritage Parkway is steadily becoming a new dining and shopping destination for Brookshire, west Katy and surrounding communities.
