Ways to Celebrate July 4th
Our national Independence Day is fast approaching! Whether you like to celebrate the holiday with your loved ones at home or out and about, it's all about family time and taking a moment to show appreciation for our great country: our founding fathers, our servicemen and women, those formerly and presently serving in our government and the American values we hold so dear.
A Little History
On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. The Constitution provides the legal and governmental framework for the United States, however, the Declaration, with its eloquent assertion “all Men are created equal,” is equally beloved by the American people.
How to Celebrate
If you're interested in getting out to enjoy the holiday, we have several great events posted in our "Community Events" section!
Want to stay home and celebrate? Get your grill or barbecue pit fired up for chicken leg quarters, ribs, brisket or burgers and pair with a traditional potato salad, baked beans and patriotic sheet cake adorned with whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries. Enjoy an afternoon of swimming or other water fun like a slip-and-slide, inflatable water slide, or water balloons. Play a few rounds of corn hole, horse shoes, or field sports like soccer or football with your family. Make a craft that's centered around a patriotic theme like paper lanterns painted with red and blue stripes and white stars, or paint "fireworks" with handprints or finger painting.
However you choose to celebrate the holiday, make it count with those you love!
