USPS Holiday Reminder for Harvest Bend Section 1 Residents: Keep Mailboxes Clear and Accessible

USPS Holiday Reminder for Harvest Bend Section 1 Residents: Keep Mailboxes Clear and Accessible

December 04 2025

The holiday season is officially here, and with it comes a significant increase in mail and package deliveries across the country—including right here in Harvest Bend Section 1. As families exchange holiday cards, online gift orders begin to arrive, and charitable organizations send end-of-year mailers, it's no surprise that local mailboxes are seeing a seasonal surge.

In light of this, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has issued an important reminder to all Harvest Bend Section 1 residents: please check your mailbox at least once a week and ensure it remains fully accessible to your mail carrier.

USPS notes that if a mailbox is full—whether with letters, packages, or a combination of both—or if it is blocked by a parked vehicle, carriers may not be able to deliver additional mail. In such cases, the mail is returned to the local post office, causing delays and the risk of undelivered holiday cards and packages.

Why this matters during the holidays:

  • Increased mail volume: USPS sees some of the highest mail traffic of the year during November and December due to holiday greetings, shopping deliveries, and year-end communications.

  • Limited space: A single package can quickly fill a standard-sized mailbox, especially when combined with letters and advertisements.

  • Carrier safety and efficiency: Vehicles parked in front of mailboxes can make delivery routes unsafe or impossible for carriers to complete efficiently.

To help ensure that all mail arrives on time this season, residents are encouraged to follow these USPS best practices:

  • Check your mailbox frequently—ideally every day, but at least once per week.

  • Avoid parking in front of your mailbox—especially during expected delivery hours.

  • Retrieve packages promptly—to prevent overflow and to reduce the risk of theft.

  • Consider using a larger or locking mailbox—if you frequently receive larger parcels.

By staying proactive, Harvest Bend Section 1 residents can help keep postal operations running smoothly while ensuring they receive every holiday card, package, and letter without delay.

From the local USPS and your neighbors here in Harvest Bend Section 1—thank you for doing your part this holiday season!
