Tomball Texas Roadhouse Welcomes Constable Mark Herman’s Deputies as Celebrity Servers for Special Olympics Texas

Dinner at the Tomball Texas Roadhouse will come with a little extra community spirit Thursday, July 23, when deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office step in as celebrity servers to support Special Olympics Texas.

From 5 to 9 p.m., off-duty deputies will greet guests and assist the restaurant’s regular servers at Texas Roadhouse, 24530 Tomball Pkwy, Tomball, TX 77375. Throughout the evening, they will collect donations benefiting Special Olympics athletes in the Greater Houston region.

For Tomball-area families, the Tip-A-Cop event offers a simple way to support local athletes while meeting the deputies who serve their community — all during an ordinary night out for dinner.

“Our deputies are honored to support such a meaningful cause,” said Constable Mark Herman. “This is a great opportunity for the community to meet our team and make a difference in the lives of these incredible athletes.”

What Tomball Diners Can Expect at Tip-A-Cop

During the four-hour event, deputies will work alongside Texas Roadhouse employees, visiting tables, welcoming customers and helping raise awareness about Special Olympics Texas.

The deputies are not replacing the restaurant’s professional servers. Instead, they will serve as additional hosts and celebrity waitstaff while encouraging customers to make voluntary donations beyond the gratuity left for their regular server.

Every Tip-A-Cop donation collected during the Tomball event will go directly toward programs serving Special Olympics Texas athletes in the region.

Residents who cannot attend the July 23 dinner may also contribute through the Tomball Texas Roadhouse Tip-A-Cop online donation page.

How Tip-A-Cop Connects Law Enforcement and Special Olympics

Tip-A-Cop is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, an international grassroots fundraising and public-awareness effort involving police officers, deputies, corrections officers and other law enforcement professionals.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run began in Wichita, Kansas, in 1981 as an effort to raise awareness of Special Olympics and strengthen relationships between officers and the communities they served. The program later expanded to include events such as Tip-A-Cop, Polar Plunge, Plane Pull, Truck Convoy and Cops on Top.

During Tip-A-Cop events, participating officers temporarily trade their usual uniforms and responsibilities for restaurant aprons and serving trays. The informal setting gives residents an opportunity to speak with local law enforcement while learning more about athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run has collectively raised more than $1 billion for Special Olympics programs worldwide, making it the organization’s largest grassroots fundraising and public-awareness initiative. Funds raised through the program support Special Olympics services in local communities.

Special Olympics Texas and Texas Roadhouse confirmed that the 2026 statewide Tip-A-Cop dinner will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. July 23 at participating restaurants, including the Tomball Parkway location.

Donations Support More Than Athletic Competition

Special Olympics Texas provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization holds more than 300 competitions each year at the area, regional and state levels, with athletes grouped by age, gender and ability level.

Its work extends beyond medals and competition days. Special Olympics programming also provides opportunities for physical fitness, health education, leadership development, friendship and greater inclusion.

Athletes train for weeks before competitions with the support of certified volunteer coaches. Volunteers also serve as officials, event assistants, committee members and mentors, making community participation central to the organization’s work.

The Greater Houston area is one of the regional communities served by Special Olympics Texas, giving the donations collected in Tomball a direct connection to athletes and families across the region.

A Dinner With a Larger Purpose

The Tomball Tip-A-Cop event reflects why the program has remained a recognizable Special Olympics tradition: it turns a familiar community gathering place into an opportunity for inclusion.

A family can stop for dinner, meet a local deputy and help ensure that an athlete has access to training, competition and a community of supporters. At the same time, deputies can connect with residents outside the circumstances in which people most often encounter law enforcement.

That personal interaction — across a restaurant table rather than during an emergency or traffic stop — is an important part of the evening’s purpose.

Tomball Tip-A-Cop Event Details

The Tip-A-Cop event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Texas Roadhouse, 24530 Tomball Parkway in Tomball.

Constable Mark Herman’s deputies will assist restaurant staff, greet diners and collect voluntary donations for Special Olympics Texas. Guests should continue to tip their regular restaurant servers separately.

For Tomball residents, it is an opportunity to share a meal, support athletes and spend an evening with local law enforcement — one table and one act of generosity at a time.
