The Fresh Monkee Swings Into Katy with Protein-Packed Shakes and Real Ingredients

April 09 2025

A new kind of shake shop is coming to Jordan Ranch Crossing this summer, and it’s not your average smoothie bar. The Fresh Monkee, a fast-growing health-focused brand known for its high-protein, made-to-order shakes, is set to open its first Katy location at 29907 Jordan Crossing Blvd, Suite 750, with construction beginning in early May and completion expected by August 2025, according to official permit filings.

This upcoming shop will be part of the brand’s larger expansion into the Greater Houston area, bringing its mission of simple, real-ingredient nutrition to busy families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a convenient yet healthy option.

“The Fresh Monkee was born from a desire for something greater,” said Judy Flynn, founder of the company. “I wanted to create something fast, delicious, and nutritious—something that felt like food you’d make in your own kitchen, but with a bit more fun.”

A Shake Shop With Substance

Founded in 2014 in Wethersfield, Connecticut, The Fresh Monkee started in a modest 650-square-foot space with just 10 recipes and a used fridge. Today, it’s become a go-to destination for protein shakes that skip the syrups, artificial flavors, and unnecessary sugars often found in traditional smoothie chains.

Instead, each shake is crafted from natural nut butters, fresh fruits and vegetables, protein powder, and milk, blended on the spot and tailored to the customer’s preferences. Menu favorites include the Chunkee Monkee, Filthy Monkee, and the fruit-packed Antioxidant Berry. Specialty options like the Cinnamon Toast, Mass PB Cookie, and Watermelon Strawberry Limeade offer something for every taste—whether you're craving indulgent, energizing, or refreshing.

“I was tired of seeing shake shops filled with sugary fruit blends and mysterious powders,” Flynn explained. “Our shakes start with protein, good carbs, and healthy fats. That’s what fuels real people—and that’s what we serve.”

Wellness That’s Real and Relatable

More than a brand, The Fresh Monkee is built on a deeply personal story. As a single mother and former financial sector professional, Flynn says her inspiration came not only from frustration with unhealthy food options but also from a history of overcoming an eating disorder and understanding the vital connection between nutrition, recovery, and empowerment.

This foundation continues to resonate in each new store. The Katy location will reflect The Fresh Monkee’s core values of accessibility, wellness, and simplicity, aiming to serve residents of Fort Bend County with options that are both satisfying and sustaining.

A Welcome Addition to Katy’s Health-Conscious Food Scene

The Fresh Monkee’s Katy location will occupy 1,010 square feet within the Shops at Jordan Ranch Crossing and feature a custom interior buildout designed to streamline operations while maintaining the brand’s signature vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

As Katy continues to grow as a hub for health-minded families and young professionals, the arrival of The Fresh Monkee adds a fresh, nutritious alternative to fast food, right in the heart of one of the area's fastest-growing master-planned communities.

Customers can expect a full menu of high-fiber, protein-rich shakes, snacks like Monkee Ballz, and rotating seasonal specials. With its emphasis on quality ingredients, friendly service, and no-nonsense nutrition, The Fresh Monkee is poised to become a neighborhood favorite.
