June 01 2026

For families looking for affordable entertainment, arts enthusiasts seeking world-class performances, and residents searching for things to do in The Woodlands, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has announced a packed 2026 Performing Arts Series featuring free events throughout the year.

The nonprofit venue revealed a diverse lineup that includes live symphony performances, family movie nights, cultural celebrations, educational concerts and holiday programming—all with no tickets required.

The announcement continues a long-standing tradition that has helped make The Pavilion one of the region’s most accessible arts destinations, welcoming audiences of all ages to experience live performances in an outdoor setting that has become a cornerstone of community life in The Woodlands.

Why This Matters for The Woodlands Community

As entertainment costs continue to rise, free access to high-quality arts programming provides an opportunity for local families to enjoy professional performances without the financial barriers often associated with cultural events.

Since opening in 1990, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has served as more than a concert venue. Through its nonprofit mission, the organization has worked to introduce new audiences to the performing arts while creating opportunities for residents throughout Montgomery County and the Greater Houston region to gather, learn and connect.

The 2026 season reflects that mission by offering a mix of educational programming, cultural experiences and family-friendly entertainment that appeals to a broad audience.

Whether visitors are longtime Pavilion supporters or first-time attendees, the series offers opportunities to enjoy music, dance, film and community celebrations throughout the year.

Summer Season Begins with Family Favorites

The 2026 Performing Arts Series opens on Friday, June 5, with a Polynesian dance performance by My Hula Hut followed by a screening of Disney's Lilo & Stitch. The event celebrates Hawaiian culture while offering a family-friendly kickoff to the summer arts season.

The Houston Symphony returns on June 17 with The Music of Journey, bringing classic rock hits to The Pavilion stage. Less than a week later, on June 23, audiences can experience The Princess Bride accompanied by a live performance of the film's score by the Houston Symphony.

One of the community's most anticipated traditions returns on Friday, July 3, with the annual Star-Spangled Salute. The Independence Day celebration will feature patriotic music, family activities, crafts and giveaways before the performance.

Celebrating Culture Through Dance, Music and Film

The Pavilion's summer programming also highlights cultural diversity through performances designed to introduce audiences to different artistic traditions.

On July 10, Mixteco Ballet Folklórico will present a vibrant showcase of traditional Mexican dance before a screening of Disney's Encanto. The event celebrates Latin culture through storytelling, music and movement.

The Woodlands Symphony takes center stage on July 15 with Game On! A Symphony of Sport, featuring recognizable sports-themed music that connects athletics and orchestral performance.

Music fans can also look forward to the Houston Symphony's July 21 presentation of The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John Starring Michael Cavanaugh, a tribute to two of popular music's most influential artists.

Educational and Seasonal Programming Arrives This Fall

The Performing Arts Series continues into the fall with educational programming aimed at younger audiences and families.

On September 9, the Houston Symphony will present When Instruments Roamed the Earth, an educational concert designed to engage children while introducing them to orchestral music.

Later in the month, on September 29, the Woodlands Symphony presents Dead Symphony – Music of the Grateful Dead, blending symphonic arrangements with the music of the iconic rock band.

Halloween-themed fun arrives on October 23 with Hocus Pocus Pops, featuring seasonal music and family-friendly entertainment from the Houston Symphony.

The season concludes on December 3 with Holly Jolly Jingle, a holiday performance featuring talented Conroe ISD student musicians. The event provides an opportunity for local students to showcase their musical abilities while helping the community celebrate the holiday season.

Programs Designed to Engage Young Audiences

Families interested in deeper involvement with the arts can participate in Mini Pavilion Maestros, a free youth program created to make performing arts experiences more engaging for children.

Members receive a lanyard and badge, free reserved seating at performing arts events, early entry to select shows, a complimentary ticket to the Children's Festival and additional benefits throughout the year.

The program reflects The Pavilion's broader educational mission and commitment to developing future generations of arts supporters and performers.

Community members who want to support The Pavilion's nonprofit mission can participate through the Stage Lighters membership program.

The membership program helps fund arts accessibility initiatives while providing benefits such as reserved seating, access to the Woodforest Bank Club, Gold Lot parking, invitations to exclusive events and Pavilion merchandise.

As one of the region's most recognizable cultural institutions, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion continues to play an important role in expanding access to the arts while creating shared experiences that bring residents together.

What Happens Next

The free 2026 Performing Arts Series begins June 5 and continues through December. No tickets are required for events in the series.
