Spring break is next week, and if you're planning to stay in town, there are plenty of activities to keep you and your kids busy and engaged while making memories. Check out our lineup of events and activities to enjoy close to home!
Freebies at The Brookwood Community
Each week day during spring break, the Brookwood Community will offer an assortment of freebies! Bring the family to Brookwood in Brookshire for a day of casual, delicious dining, shopping in their jaw-dropping gift shop and garden center, and learning about their meaningful work that supports adults with disABILITIES.
Café Hours: Mon – Sat 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Closed Sun | Store Hours: Mon – Sat 9:00 am – 4:30 pm, Closed Sun
- Monday, March 11: Decorate Your Own Cupcake Creation with a kids meal purchase.
- Tuesday, March 12: Complimentary ice cream with a kids meal purchase.
- Wednesday, March 13: Painting Kindness Rocks – take one home or share the love with a Brookwood Citizen.
- Thursday, March 14: It's National Craft Day – unleash your creativity with an assortment of crafts!
- Friday, March 15: Kids Eat FREE with the purchase of an Adult meal.

Nature's Ways Story Time @ John Paul Landing

Weekly Bird Walk @ John Paul Landing
Description: Start your day with a guided walk to explore the birds of
John Paul Landing. All ages and levels of experience welcome. Please bring your own equipment, water, and bug spray, etc. Hats and sunscreen are recommended as there is little shade along the 2-mile route. A Closer Look At Nature: Crazy About Crawfish @ John Paul Landing
Description: Whether you refer to them as crayfish, crawfish, mudbugs or yabbies, this unique animal can be found very close to home. Join us at
John Paul Landing as we burrow into the lives of crawfish around the world to see what makes them so interesting. At the tail end of the program, we will have to opportunity to see some live crawfish and then try to catch some local inhabitants of the lake. *Please bring footwear that can get muddy as this will take place lakeside. All are welcome at this program designed for school-aged children. Each class includes a 30-minute presentation followed by an activity. For questions, email

Junior Angler @ Mary Jo Peckham Park
Description: This Junior Angler program at
Mary Jo Peckham Park will cover basic information all fisherman should know before hitting the water. If you haven’t attended the previous classes, no worries! This class will serve as a review for returners, and entry-level challenges for first-timers. Topics to be covered include fishing safety, tacklebox basics, casting practice, and fishing. We will have a 45 minute lunch break (bring your lunch and drinks). Limited fishing equipment and bait provided during the event. City of Katy Spring Community Camp Out @ VFW Park
Description: Families with children of all ages are welcome to attend! Participants can enjoy the park and various activities then settle in for the evening with a hot dog dinner, provided by Parkway Fellowship North Katy, s'mores, and an outdoor movie. Coding to Painting: Enriching Camps in Katy
Katy has no shortage of enriching spaces for young minds to explore, create, innovate and have fun. Check out these locals camps that have curated exciting lineups o f fun activities all week long.
Cordovan Art School Art Camp (All Day, Half Day or Mini Sessions)
Description: Campers get to attend either individual mini sessions, all 10 mini-sessions (Full Day), or 5 mini-sessions (Half Day), where they will paint fun designs like ceramic pandas, frolicking bunnies on canvas, whimsical creatures of folklore, Pokémon and more. Full day camp runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, half day camp runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and mini sessions are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
