Smalls Sliders Makes Bold Entrance in Tomball with Grand Opening and Local Hero Tribute

June 12 2025

On Friday, June 6, Tomball residents lined up early on State Highway 249 to experience the buzz surrounding Smalls Sliders®, the fast-growing cheeseburger slider brand that just launched its second official Texas location. The restaurant’s modular, shipping container-inspired design—affectionately called a “Can”—has officially dropped in Tomball, drawing fans from across the area to sample sliders "small in size, big in taste."

This new opening not only marks another milestone for the Georgia-based chain’s Texas expansion, but also delivers a unique blend of fast-casual innovation and community focus to Northwest Harris County. The Tomball “Can” is now serving its full menu, complete with fresh-to-order cheeseburger sliders, hand-cut fries, and signature sauces that have helped Smalls Sliders amass a devoted following across the South.

A Slider Concept That’s Big on Flavor and Simplicity

Smalls Sliders has carved a niche in the competitive fast-food space by specializing in one thing and doing it exceptionally well: cheeseburger sliders. Each slider features a 100% beef patty, American cheese, a dill pickle, and the brand’s proprietary Smauce® on a toasted, buttered bun. Customers can opt for anywhere from a single slider to a four-slider combo with fries and a drink.

Popular upgrades like the “Biggie Smalls” (double meat and cheese) and crispy bacon allow for customization, while larger “Party Packs” (available in sets of 25) cater to game days, birthdays, and team outings. Guests can also satisfy their sweet tooth with hand-spun shakes in vanilla, chocolate, and cookies & cream.

Adding to the hype was the brand’s CanVan—a mobile kitchen that served up sizzling sliders on opening day, delighting Tomball crowds eager to “slide thru” and sample the fan-favorite fare.

Community-Focused: FCS Sports Performance Named Smalls Town Hero

More than just serving sliders, Smalls Sliders is also bringing heart to its local partnerships. Tomball Can owner Thad Montgomery selected FCS Sports Performance as the location’s inaugural “Smalls Town Hero,” a community initiative that honors organizations making a positive local impact.

FCS, based in nearby Spring, Texas, is a faith-based athletic training center founded by former professional baseball players Clayton Crum and Eric Fisher. Known for its commitment to developing young athletes both physically and spiritually, FCS has helped more than 50 students advance to NCAA athletics and continues to expand its reach through the FCS Family Foundation.

Their focus on leadership, faith, and mentorship made them a standout choice for recognition. The honor underscores Smalls Sliders' mission to embed itself into the fabric of the communities it serves, not just through food, but also through meaningful engagement.

A Fast-Casual Brand on the Rise in Texas

Smalls Sliders’ presence in Tomball is just one part of its growing footprint in the Lone Star State. With 15 additional “Cans” in development across Texas, the brand is rapidly scaling thanks to its innovative modular design and efficient operations model.

Originally founded by restaurateur Brandon Landry and led by industry veteran CEO Maria Rivera, the brand has quickly attracted attention from both customers and investors. With backing from 10 Point Capital and former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, Smalls Sliders is positioned to become a national powerhouse in the quick-service space.

Landry, who envisioned giving sliders their long-overdue moment in the spotlight, built Smalls Sliders to be fun, approachable, and built for speed. “We only use high-quality ingredients and make our cheeseburger sliders fresh to order always,” the brand emphasizes. “Our waffle fries are made with the most superior spuds, too. Then seasoned to perfection for dippin’ & dunkin’ ’til your heart’s content.”
