Shake Shack Is Coming to EastVillage, the Emerging 'Upper East Side' of Austin

February 06 2026

Shake Shack is officially on the way to EastVillage in North Austin, marking another major milestone for the rapidly growing mixed-use destination. According to public construction filings, a new 3,419-square-foot Shake Shack shell building is planned for 3101 E. Yager Lane, with construction scheduled to begin March 1, 2026, and completion anticipated by August 1, 2026. The project represents a $1.6 million investment and will be developed as new construction within the EastVillage Master Planned Community (MPC) in Travis County.

The upcoming restaurant will add a nationally recognized brand to EastVillage’s carefully curated mix of retail, dining, and lifestyle offerings—further reinforcing the area’s appeal as Austin’s emerging “Upper East Side.”

Shake Shack’s Journey From NYC to Austin

Founded in 2004 as a humble hot dog stand in New York City’s Madison Square Park, Shake Shack has grown into one of the most recognizable fast-casual restaurant brands in the United States. Known for its made-to-order Angus beef burgers, crinkle-cut fries, hand-spun shakes, and chicken sandwiches, the brand emphasizes quality ingredients, modern design, and community-oriented locations.

Today, Shake Shack operates hundreds of locations across the U.S. and internationally. In Texas, the brand has expanded steadily, with multiple restaurants in Austin, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, and San Antonio. Austin-area locations already draw loyal crowds, and the addition of a Shake Shack in North Austin’s EastVillage reflects the area’s growing population and demand for walkable, food-forward destinations.

Why EastVillage Is a Natural Fit

The new Shake Shack will be part of EastVillage, a mixed-use urban center designed to blend residential living, commercial activity, green space, and entertainment. Active during the day with corporate offices, co-working spaces, and local businesses, EastVillage transitions seamlessly into an evening destination where residents and visitors dine, stroll, and gather in a downtown-style environment.

At the heart of the development is a 1.5-acre village green, surrounded by retail, restaurants, and residences, and programmed for meetups, festivals, outdoor concerts, and family-friendly events. Pedestrian bridges and wide, tree-lined sidewalks connect the urban core to more than 150 acres of preserved parkland, featuring hiking and biking trails, open fields, and natural wooded areas.

EastVillage’s design intentionally reduces reliance on major highways, offering residents proximity to daily conveniences without the familiar Austin concerns of MoPac traffic or I-35 congestion. The Vaughan, one of the community’s residential offerings, is already open with immediate move-ins available.

Continued Investment in Austin’s Growth

EastVillage is being developed by Reger Holdings, LLC, a third-generation real estate investment and development firm with a national portfolio spanning commercial, industrial, residential, and mixed-use projects. In addition to EastVillage, the company is also behind The Linden, a 28-story condominium tower rising on the north side of downtown Austin.

Shake Shack is one of several new additions planned for EastVillage as the development continues to take shape in North Austin. For future residents and nearby neighbors, it adds another easy dining option in a community designed around walkability and everyday convenience.

Although construction is still expected to happen in 2026, the plans offer an early look at how EastVillage is filling in over time. As more restaurants, shops, and housing come online, the area is steadily becoming a place where people can live nearby and enjoy food, green space, and local activity without leaving the neighborhood.
