Seven Lakes HS Orchestra Receives National Recognition
Congratulations to the Seven Lakes HS Symphony Orchestra for being named the winner of The American Prize in Orchestral Performance, school orchestra division!
The American Prize is designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles and composers in the United States at professional, university, community and high school levels.
Led by directors Desiree Overree, Sean Carlton, and Sean Kime, the Seven Lakes High School Orchestra is comprised of approximately 230 students across eight different ensembles.
For the past eighteen years, the Seven Lakes High School Orchestra has consistently exemplified a commitment to musical excellence and innovation. Notably, the Symphony Orchestra clinched the TMEA state championship in 2019 and was recognized as a National Winner from the Foundation of Music Education. Individual members have earned prestigious honors at regional, area, and state levels, while the orchestra's Pit Orchestra has received accolades from the Tommy Tune Awards. The Symphony and Sinfonia Orchestras have consistently ranked among the top ten in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Orchestra competition.
In addition to their many accolades, the orchestra places a strong emphasis on community service through initiatives like the annual Mega Car Wash, Pumpkin Patch Fest, and "Give Bach."
Congratulations to these talented musicians and their directors!
