Royal ISD Homecoming 2026 Brings Brookshire Together With Tailgate, Football, Spirit Week and Alumni Return
Royal ISD is preparing for a full week of Homecoming traditions, with activities designed to bring students, staff, families, alumni and the broader Brookshire community together.
Homecoming 2026 runs Sept. 14-19 and builds toward a Friday evening community tailgate and varsity football game against the Willowridge Eagles, followed by the Royal High School Homecoming Dance on Saturday.
For local residents, the week offers several ways to participate, whether that means joining students for spirit days, stopping by the tailgate, filling the stands at Falcon Stadium or returning as an alumnus to perform with Royal High School’s band, dance or color guard programs.
Royal ISD Homecoming Week Dress Themes Begin Sept. 14
Students across Royal ISD are encouraged to take part in daily dress-up themes throughout Homecoming Week.
Monday, Sept. 14, is “Falcons Are the Future,” with students invited to dress like their dream job.
Tuesday is “Team Up & Fight the Flock,” featuring Twin Day.
Wednesday is “‘Toon’ Out the Willowridge Eagles,” when students can dress as a favorite cartoon character.
Thursday is “Soaring Through the Decades.” Students in pre-K through eighth grade may choose any decade, while Royal High School students have assigned eras: ninth grade will represent the 2000s, 10th grade the 1990s, 11th grade the 1980s and 12th grade the 1970s.
Friday brings “Give ’Em the Royal Blues,” a districtwide BLUE OUT encouraging students and supporters to wear blue ahead of the evening’s Homecoming football game.
Homecoming Tailgate Gives Families and Neighbors a Place to Gather
The community celebration begins Friday, Sept. 18, with the Royal ISD Homecoming Tailgate from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Royal High School parking lot.
Royal ISD campuses and departments will host games and activities for families, including face painting, temporary tattoos, football toss and cornhole. Snacks and refreshments will also be available with support from district campuses, departments and community partners.
The Royal ISD Athletic Booster Club will play a key role in the event by cooking and serving food for the community.
The tailgate gives families a chance to arrive early, spend time together and take part in the Homecoming atmosphere before kickoff.
Royal Falcons Face Willowridge Eagles at Falcon Stadium
At 7 p.m. Friday, the Royal Falcons will take the field at Falcon Stadium for the Homecoming varsity football game against the Willowridge Eagles.
Royal ISD is encouraging Falcon Nation to wear blue and help fill the stands in support of the district’s student-athletes.
For residents who may not have a student directly involved in Homecoming activities, the tailgate and football game offer the easiest way to join the celebration and support Royal High School.
Royal High School Alumni Invited Back to the Field
This year’s Homecoming also includes a special reunion for former members of the Royal Marching Sound Machine, Falcon Fusion Jazzettes and color guard.
Royal High School is inviting former band, dance and color guard members to return and perform during Homecoming Week, giving alumni an opportunity to reconnect with their programs and share the field with current students.
Band rehearsals are scheduled Sept. 14-17 from 3 to 7 p.m. Dance and color guard rehearsals are scheduled Sept. 16 and Sept. 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The alumni participation fee is $20 and covers food and entry. Payment is due before Sept. 18 for those planning to participate.
Participants may pay through Cash App at $RMSMBandbooster and are asked to include their name and what the payment is for. Cash payments may also be made in person before Sept. 18.
A separate alumni Homecoming T-shirt is available for $20. The flyer lists Friday, Sept. 11, as the ordering deadline, with orders placed through https://square.link/u/zW20mxSQ.
Former band members with questions may contact gmiller@royal-isd.net, while former color guard and dance members may contact arobnett@royal-isd.net.
Homecoming Dance Wraps Up the Week
Homecoming festivities continue Saturday, Sept. 19, with the Royal High School Homecoming Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. in the RHS Cafeteria.
The dance is open to Royal High School students only and gives students one more opportunity to celebrate with classmates after a week of school spirit and Friday night traditions.
A Week Built Around Falcon Nation
Royal ISD describes Homecoming as more than a football game, and this year’s schedule reflects that broader focus. The week recognizes the students, traditions, relationships and community connections that have shaped Falcon Nation over time.
The district also credited its campuses, departments, community partners, volunteers and Athletic Booster Club for helping create the week’s activities and experiences for students and families.
For current students, Homecoming can become one of the defining weeks of the fall semester. For parents and families, it offers another set of milestones and memories. And for alumni returning to perform, this year provides a chance to reconnect with a familiar program while supporting the next generation of Falcons.
