Nine East Kyle Roads in Focus as Hays County Plans Oct. 1 Open House
Anyone who lives or drives regularly through East Kyle has watched the area's road network take on more traffic as neighborhoods and businesses have grown. Hays County is now inviting residents to see what is planned for nine area roadways and speak directly with the teams working on those projects.
The East Kyle Projects Open House will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Gemstone Palace, 1101 Bunton Creek Road, Suite 200, in Kyle. Residents can drop in at any point during the event rather than arriving for a single presentation.
Which East Kyle Roads Are Included?
The projects involve High Road, Hillside Terrace, Dairy Road, Bunton Lane, Heidenreich Lane, Gristmill Road, Goforth Road, FM 2001 and Windy Hill Road. County officials say the work is intended to improve safety, mobility and connectivity in the growing East Kyle area.
At the open house, residents will be able to review information on each project's purpose, current status and anticipated next steps. Project team members will also be available to answer questions.
For residents unable to attend in person, Hays County is making the process accessible online. Meeting materials and an opportunity to submit comments will be available through the Hays County Roads website beginning Oct. 1, with comments accepted through Oct. 16.
Residents Have a Chance to Weigh In
Public meetings can be particularly useful during the earlier stages of transportation projects because they allow people who use the roads every day to understand what is being considered before construction begins.
The projects are part of the larger Hays County Road Improvements Program, which includes transportation work across all four county precincts. Individual projects move through planning, design, right-of-way acquisition, utility coordination and construction at different times.
