Mahjong and Bunco Bring Neighbors Together in Westheimer Lakes
If you're looking for a fun way to meet neighbors and unwind during the week, you don’t have to go far. Every Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m., Westheimer Lakes residents are invited to gather at the Canyon Gate Clubhouse for a friendly game of Mahjong. Once a month, the clubhouse comes alive again for Bunco Night, a fast-paced, laugh-filled dice game held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on a selected evening.
Both events offer something a little different—but they each bring people together.
Mahjong, a classic tile-based game with deep roots in Chinese tradition, is known for its mix of strategy, focus, and social fun. Four players sit around a table, drawing and discarding tiles to form winning combinations. It’s a game that sharpens the mind and encourages good conversation.
Bunco, on the other hand, is all about rolling dice and letting luck take the wheel. Played in larger groups that rotate tables, Bunco is loud, lively, and full of quick rounds and big reactions—perfect for anyone who enjoys a social, no-pressure game night.

No experience is necessary for either game. Regulars are always happy to help newcomers learn the ropes.
“Community events like these are such a special part of Westheimer Lakes,” shared one regular attendee. “It’s not just about playing games—it’s about staying connected and having something fun to look forward to.”
