The City of Magnolia will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2026-27 operating budget at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, inside the City Council Chamber at 18111 Buddy Riley Blvd., Magnolia, TX 77354. The proposed budget covers the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2026, and ending Sept. 30, 2027. All interested residents and property owners are invited to attend.

Beyond the numbers themselves, the hearing gives residents a chance to see how Magnolia plans to pay for city operations, fees and services as the community changes and new property is added to the local tax rolls.

Proposed Magnolia Budget Includes 4.38% Increase in Property Tax Revenue

According to the public hearing notice, the proposed budget would raise $97,689 more in property tax revenue than the previous year’s budget, representing a 4.38% increase. The city also expects to receive $159,994 in property tax revenue from new property added to the tax roll this year.

That distinction is important for homeowners to understand. An increase in the city’s total property tax revenue does not, by itself, mean every individual homeowner’s tax bill will rise by 4.38%. A household’s final property tax obligation can depend on several factors, including its taxable property value, exemptions and the tax rate ultimately adopted.

The city says the proposed operating budget is available for public inspection along with related fees, rates, charges, building permit fees and associated revenue.

Copies are available through the City Secretary’s Office at Magnolia City Hall. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. The budget information is also available through the City of Magnolia website.
