Austin’s Chinatown Center is adding another reason for families, collectors and arcade fans to linger a little longer along North Lamar Boulevard.

Lucky Claw Mania, a locally owned claw machine arcade, is preparing an Austin location at 10901 N. Lamar Blvd., Suite 140, inside Chinatown Center. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing describes a 1,500-square-foot buildout for a claw arcade with an estimated construction cost of $100,000.

For North Austin residents, the project adds a different kind of entertainment option to a shopping center already known for its concentration of Asian restaurants, markets, specialty retailers and services. Chinatown Center's own directory now lists Lucky Claw Mania among its tenants and marks the arcade as "Coming Soon."

Lucky Claw Mania plans 1,500-square-foot Austin arcade

According to the state filing, the Lucky Claw Mania project is located in Suite 140 at Chinatown Center in Travis County. The filing lists the work as new construction consisting of a full buildout of a 1,500-square-foot claw arcade.

The estimated construction value is $100,000. The filing lists a project start date of Oct. 1, 2025, and a completion date of Sept. 16, 2026. However, dates included in TDLR filings generally reflect project schedules and should not be interpreted on their own as confirmation that construction has been completed or that a business is ready to open. The project was registered with TDLR on Sept. 15, 2026.

As of Sept. 19, Chinatown Center was still advertising the Austin Lucky Claw Mania location as coming soon rather than listing regular operating hours.

An official opening date has not been announced.

What is Lucky Claw Mania?

Lucky Claw Mania is a locally owned arcade concept built almost entirely around the familiar challenge of maneuvering a mechanical claw over a prize, lining it up and hoping the grip holds long enough to bring something home.

The business describes its locations as claw machine arcades featuring rows of machines filled with plush toys and collectible merchandise. Its prize selection has included popular collectibles such as Labubu and Sonny Angels, along with other plush characters and toys.

The concept also adds a second layer to the traditional claw machine experience. Players can win prizes directly from the machines, while certain prizes can also be exchanged for points that can be used toward different rewards. That trade-up model gives customers another option when they accumulate winnings rather than simply taking home every prize they grab.

Lucky Claw Mania also promotes party bookings, positioning the arcade as a destination for birthdays, family outings and group celebrations in addition to casual visits.

From Pflugerville to North Austin

Lucky Claw Mania's Central Texas story is relatively new.

Plans for its Pflugerville location surfaced in early 2025, when the business was preparing a space at Stone Hill Town Center. The arcade ultimately opened there on Oct. 29, 2025, according to Community Impact.

The Pflugerville arcade operates at 18900 Limestone Commercial Drive in Stone Hill Town Center, where the shopping center currently lists Lucky Claw Mania as one of its entertainment tenants.

Lucky Claw Mania's own website now references both Pflugerville and Austin, describing the company as a locally owned claw machine arcade with an emphasis on collectible prizes and family-friendly entertainment.

The Chinatown Center project represents the brand's move directly into Austin, giving North Austin customers an alternative to making the trip north to Pflugerville.

Why Chinatown Center could be a natural fit

For longtime Austin residents, Chinatown Center has developed into much more than a conventional strip shopping center.

Its directory includes restaurants, bakeries, jewelry stores, beauty businesses, specialty services and MT Supermarket, which Chinatown Center describes as the largest international grocery store in Central Texas.

Adding a claw machine arcade introduces an entertainment component that can complement those existing businesses, particularly for families or groups who may already be visiting the center for food, groceries or shopping.

Claw arcades have also increasingly crossed over with collectible culture. Instead of filling machines only with generic stuffed animals, Lucky Claw Mania highlights recognizable and sometimes highly sought-after collectibles, giving customers who follow trends such as Labubu, Sonny Angels and character plush merchandise another reason to visit.

For Chinatown Center, that combination of gaming and collectible merchandise fits naturally alongside a destination that already draws shoppers looking for Asian food, specialty products and experiences that can be harder to find elsewhere in the Austin area.

What happens next for Lucky Claw Mania in Austin?

The Austin location is planned for 10901 N. Lamar Blvd., Suite 140, Austin, TX 78753.

Although the state construction filing lists Sept. 16 as its scheduled completion date, Chinatown Center still identifies Lucky Claw Mania as coming soon. No confirmed public opening date or regular business hours have been posted.

Once it opens, the North Lamar arcade will give Austin families, teenagers, collectors and anyone willing to test their claw machine skills a new locally owned entertainment option without leaving the city.

It will also mark the next step for a young Central Texas brand that went from planning its Pflugerville arcade in early 2025 to establishing locations in both Pflugerville and Austin on its company website little more than a year later.
