Lowe’s Planning New Converse Store Near Hightop Ridge
Every homeowner eventually has the same experience: the project is halfway finished, the tools are spread everywhere and one missing part means another trip to the store. For residents around Hightop Ridge, that trip could eventually get shorter.
Lowe’s is planning a new home improvement store at East Loop 1604 North and Copper Gate in Converse.
The project is sizable. Plans call for a roughly 107,136-square-foot store, putting a major home improvement retailer directly along the Loop 1604 corridor. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in January 2027 and continue through October 2027.
For homeowners, renters, gardeners and do-it-yourselfers, the range inside a Lowe’s can cover everything from a burned-out light fixture to an entire kitchen remodel. Stores typically carry appliances, lumber and building materials, tools, flooring, paint, lighting, plumbing supplies and lawn and garden products, along with services such as installation and pickup for online orders.
The retailer itself has been around for more than a century. Lowe’s traces its beginnings to a North Carolina hardware store opened in 1921. From those roots, the company grew into one of the country’s largest home improvement retailers, with stores serving communities across the United States.
The Converse location could be especially handy when the shopping list is less glamorous than a renovation. Mulch for the yard, an air filter, a replacement faucet, a bag of concrete or the one fitting forgotten on the first trip are the kinds of purchases that turn proximity into a real convenience. For Hightop Ridge, that is likely to be the practical appeal of having another major home improvement store nearby.
There is no announced opening date yet. The October 2027 date reflects the current construction schedule, not a confirmed first day of business. Details about hiring, store departments and an official opening should become clearer as Lowe’s gets farther into development.
