Layne’s Chicken Fingers Opens in Cypress July 18 with Free Layne’s for a Year and Support for Cy-Fair High School

Cypress residents will soon have another hometown-friendly dining option along Fry Road, and this one comes with a line-worthy opening day offer.

Layne’s Chicken Fingers will celebrate the grand opening of its new Cypress restaurant on Saturday, July 18, at 9850 Fry Road, Cypress, TX 77433, formerly Zaxbys Chicken Fingers & Buffalo Wings that has since closed. To mark the occasion, the first 50 dine-in guests will receive free Layne’s for a year, giving local families, students and chicken tender fans a reason to arrive early.

The grand opening also carries a local giveback component. A percentage of total sales from the opening day celebration will be donated to Cy-Fair High School, connecting the new restaurant’s debut to one of the community’s longtime public school campuses.

A College Station Brand with a Growing Houston-Area Footprint

Layne’s Chicken Fingers was founded in 1994 in College Station, Texas, where it first built a following near Texas A&M University with hand-breaded chicken fingers, secret sauce and a casual, friendly approach to service. What began as a local college-town favorite has grown into a chicken finger franchise with more than 50 locations and continued expansion across Texas and beyond.

The new Cypress location is part of that broader growth, but it also has a strong Greater Houston connection. The restaurant will be operated by Masroor Fatany, who is opening his 12th Layne’s Chicken Fingers location. His newest Cypress restaurant follows the opening of his Downtown Houston location in Spring 2026 and continues his investment in the region.

“We're excited to continue growing with Layne's and introduce the brand to even more guests in the Houston area. Cypress is a thriving community, and we're looking forward to becoming part of it,” said Fatany.

That local operator connection matters in a community like Cypress, where residents often pay attention not only to what is opening, but who is behind it and how the business intends to fit into the area.

What’s on the Menu at the New Cypress Layne’s

The Cypress restaurant will serve the full Layne’s Chicken Fingers menu, centered around the brand’s hand-breaded crispy tenders and familiar comfort-food sides.

Layne’s is known for keeping its chicken process simple but intentional. Each tender is made from fresh, never-frozen chicken that is marinated, hand-breaded and cooked to order, giving the fingers their crispy outside and juicy, tender inside. That made-fresh approach has helped the brand build a loyal following around a menu that does not try to be complicated—it focuses on doing chicken fingers well.

Guests can expect chicken finger baskets, Texas toast-stacked sandwiches and the fan-favorite chicken club, which is topped with brisket bacon and American cheese. The menu also includes Layne’s lineup of dipping sauces, including the brand’s signature house sauce, jalapeño ranch, honey mustard, BBQ and gravy.

For Cypress families, students and nearby residents, the new Layne’s offers an easy place to stop for a casual meal that still feels a step above a typical fast-food run. Whether it is a quick dinner after practice, lunch near Fry Road or a weekend bite with friends, the restaurant brings a Texas-born chicken favorite to a growing part of the community.

Houston Remains a Key Growth Market for Layne’s

Layne’s Chicken Fingers is continuing to expand across Texas and the United States through franchise partnerships. The company said it has plans for more than 30 additional openings in 2026, with Greater Houston remaining an important part of that growth strategy.

“Houston continues to be an important growth market for Layne's, and experienced operators like Masroor are helping us introduce the brand to more communities across Texas,” said Garrett Reed, Chief Executive Officer of Layne's Chicken Fingers.

For Cypress residents, the new restaurant’s arrival brings a recognizable Texas-born brand into the neighborhood while also adding to the area’s expanding mix of restaurants, retail centers and family-focused businesses.

What Cypress Residents Need to Know

Layne’s Chicken Fingers will open its new Cypress location on Saturday, July 18, at 9850 Fry Road. The first 50 dine-in guests will receive free Layne’s for a year, and a percentage of grand opening sales will benefit Cy-Fair High School.

As Cypress continues to grow, new restaurant openings like this one help shape the day-to-day rhythm of the community, from after-school meals and weekend errands to quick family dinners close to home.
