Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Rodeo Rides Back Into Town Feb. 12–14, Honoring Over 80 Years of Tradition
Saddle up, Katy! The annual Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Rodeo is set to return February 12–14, 2026, bringing with it three action-packed nights of classic rodeo events, a community parade, youth competitions, and a vibrant celebration of agricultural education that has been central to Katy’s identity for more than 80 years.
Held at the Billy Morgan Rodeo Arena (5801 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Rd.), the Katy Rodeo is more than just a series of events — it’s a deep-rooted tradition. Since 1943, the Katy Rodeo has galvanized community spirit and honored the legacy of Katy’s ranching and farming culture. Organized by the nonprofit Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo Association, Inc. (KFLSRA), the event supports Katy ISD's agricultural education programs while uniting generations of families, students, and local organizations.
Rodeo Schedule: Three Nights of Family Fun
Each evening of the rodeo kicks off at 7:00 p.m. and features a full lineup of events including Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc, Steer Wrestling, Mutton Bustin’, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Jr. Barrel Racing, and the crowd-favorite Bull Riding. Fans can expect the same beloved thrills each night, with unique highlights like the “Parade of Champs” on Saturday and nightly Stick Horse Races for the littlest cowboys and cowgirls.
Concessions will be available throughout, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus #6950 – St. Bartholomew, and community-run features like the Katy Cowgirls and local volunteers will bring an unmistakable hometown charm to the festivities.
The organizing committee emphasized how deeply they appreciate the continued support from the Katy community, noting that the rodeo stands as a symbol of the town’s heritage and provides meaningful experiences for every student and family who takes part.

No Carnival in 2026, But the Parade Will Shine
While there will be no carnival for 2026, the excitement continues with the Katy Rodeo Parade on Saturday, February 14 at 9:30 a.m. This year’s theme—“250th Anniversary of the USA”—pays patriotic tribute, with local schools, organizations, and community groups joining the procession. The parade, rain or shine, departs from the Rhodes Stadium East Gate (1733 Katy Fort Bend Rd.) and ends at Katy High School on FM 1463.
David Fleming will serve as Parade Marshal, and judging categories include everything from performing groups and church organizations to tractors and scouting entries. Winners in each category will receive awards and be recognized on the Katy Rodeo Facebook page.
Note: Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, February 11—no parade day entries will be accepted.
FFA Livestock Show and Auction: Supporting Tomorrow’s Leaders
In addition to the rodeo, the event showcases the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show, where students exhibit months of hard work raising and preparing livestock. The annual Livestock Auction serves as a key fundraiser, allowing community members and businesses to support youth through scholarship funds and project buyouts.
In 2025, the event generated an impressive $65,000 donation back to FFA chapters and the Special Needs Rodeo, highlighting its continued positive impact on local students and agricultural programs.

Beloved Events for All Ages
From Mutton Bustin’ to Stick Horse Racing—where little ones can bring or buy a handcrafted horse made by Katy ISD FFA students—the event truly welcomes every age group. There’s no need to register for Stick Horse races; just be ready when it’s called each night.
Each handmade stick horse reflects the individuality of the student who made it and the child who races with it, making this activity not only fun but also a heartfelt reflection of community creativity and pride.
A True Community Effort
Run entirely by volunteers, the Katy Rodeo thrives thanks to the contributions of local groups: the Knights of Columbus staff the concession stands, VFW Post #9182 handles ticket sales, and local ag teachers help coordinate student events. This community-wide collaboration is what continues to make the Katy Rodeo such a cherished annual tradition.
Many locals view this event not simply as entertainment, but as a point of hometown pride that strengthens the community’s bond while showcasing the hard work of Katy’s youth.
