Pumpkin season gives Katy and Fulshear families something increasingly rare: permission to slow down. A child may take 20 minutes to select a pumpkin that looks exactly like the first one. Grandparents can join the annual photo. Neighbors meet at a church market or community festival and leave with something for the front porch.

The choices around Katy and Fulshear range from destination farms with hours of attractions to small, one-day patches built into community events. The right pick depends on whether the family wants an all-day adventure, an easy neighborhood stop or a pumpkin purchase that supports a local ministry.

Dewberry Farm Fall Festival — Brookshire

Dewberry Farm is the large-scale choice west of Katy, spreading its fall festival across a working-farm setting with rides, a corn maze, animals, seasonal food and pumpkins sold separately by size. Most attractions are included with admission, although select experiences cost extra. Guests choose an arrival time when purchasing tickets and may remain until closing.

After dark on selected fall nights, BOOriffic Nights adds lighted displays and Halloween attractions, with some experiences better suited to older or less easily startled children. The farm is cashless in most areas, does not allow outside food inside the gates and has unpaved terrain, all useful details when planning a long visit.

Blessington Farms Fall on the Farm — Simonton

• Location: 510 Chisolm Trail, Wallis, TX 77485

Blessington Farms combines a pumpkin patch and fall photo scenes with more than 20 Farm Funland activities. The 2026 lineup includes a hay wagon ride, barrel train, jump pad, slide mountain, animal encounters, gemstone mining and a corn-kernel pit. Pumpkins and pumpkin painting cost extra.

The farm works well for families who want a broad age range to have something to do while still leaving with the season’s essential souvenir. Check the farm’s schedule for operating days and admission before making the drive from Katy or Fulshear.

The Patch at First Christian Church (FCC) Katy — Katy

• Dates: Opening Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026; full hours should be confirmed with the church

The Patch at First Christian Church Katy is a recurring church pumpkin patch designed as a welcoming community stop. A 2026 event listing announces a Sept. 29 opening, but families should confirm the closing date, daily schedule and any special programs directly with First Christian Church Katy before visiting.

Church patches offer a different pace from ticketed agritourism farms. Visitors can focus on choosing pumpkins, talking with volunteers and taking a few relaxed photographs—an especially useful option for families with young children or limited time.

Pick-A-Dilly Market at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church — Katy

• Date: Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Location: Kingsland Campus, 20775 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450

The annual Pick-A-Dilly Market brings more than 100 vendors, crafts, food, live music, holiday decorations and a pumpkin patch to St. Peter’s Kingsland Campus. Nearly 1,000 community members attend in a typical year, according to the church.

This is a one-day market with a pumpkin patch, not a monthlong pumpkin-shopping destination. Proceeds help fund St. Peter’s Missions Ministry, so browsing local vendors and stopping at the patch also supports the church’s service work in the community and beyond.

Fulshear Scarecrow Festival — Fulshear

• Date: Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
• Location: Fulshear High School, 9302 Charger Way, Fulshear

The Fulshear Scarecrow Festival is a one-day community celebration featuring a pumpkin patch, Kid Zone, costume contest and the event’s namesake scarecrow contest. Organized by the Fulshear Regional Chamber for Commerce, it gives families a compact afternoon outing and a chance to participate rather than simply observe.

One organizer description contains a conflicting date in its narrative, but the event calendar lists Saturday, Oct. 24. Families should use the calendar date and check for any organizer update before attending.

Smith Ranch Fall Festival & Vendor Market — Katy

• Dates: 2026 dates not yet announced
• Location: 25440 Beckendorff Rd, Katy, TX 77493

Smith Ranch will welcome families to its Fall Festival & Vendor Market for a full day of fall activities with free admission. Visitors can browse an indoor and outdoor vendor market, pick out pumpkins, carve pumpkins, paint ceramics and enjoy food at the ranch with family and friends.

The event also gives residents an opportunity to shop from local businesses while making an early start on pumpkin season. 

A Few Ways to Make the Day Feel Like Yours

Choose the patch to match the child, not the longest attraction list. Toddlers may be happiest at a quiet church lawn; older children may want a maze, rides or a contest. If photos matter, coordinate colors rather than identical outfits and take the picture before children are tired, dusty or carrying snacks.

Let everyone choose one small pumpkin with no adult editing—even the lopsided one. Later, turn the outing into a second family night by carving, painting or cooking together. And because many fall venues operate on grass or dirt, check the weather, bring water and wear shoes that can handle a little mud.
