Fort Bend County Kids & Cops Summer Camp 2026 Registration Opens May 11

For nearly three decades, the Fort Bend County Kids & Cops Summer Camp has been one of those programs families across the county talk about year after year — the kind of camp kids remember long after summer ends.

Now, the popular Fort Bend County summer camp is preparing for another season, with registration officially opening Monday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. CST.

Hosted by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office through the nonprofit Fort Bend County Kids & Cops, Inc., the camp gives children ages 10 to 12 a chance to spend part of their summer building friendships, learning teamwork, and connecting with local deputies in a relaxed, positive environment.

And if history is any indication, spots likely will not last long.

The 28th annual camp will once again bring together kids from across Fort Bend County for four-day sessions filled with games, team competitions, leadership activities, and some well-earned summer fun — including trips to Main Event and Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy.

For many parents, though, the biggest value goes beyond the field trips.

Over the years, the program has become known throughout Fort Bend County for helping children build confidence while creating positive relationships with law enforcement officers outside of emergency situations or enforcement settings.

A Camp With Deep Roots in Fort Bend County

The Fort Bend County Kids & Cops Summer Camp traces its roots back to the late 1990s, when deputies and community volunteers came together with a simple goal: create a place where local children could feel supported, encouraged, and connected to the people serving their community.

The camp was already operating by 1997 and has steadily grown into one of the county’s longest-running youth outreach programs.

What started as a smaller mentorship-focused initiative eventually expanded into a full summer experience centered around leadership, communication, team-building, and positive decision-making.

Past camps included sports activities, motivational discussions, anti-drug education, friendly competitions, and outings that helped campers bond with one another and with deputies volunteering their time during the summer.

That mission has remained consistent over the years.

According to Fort Bend County Kids & Cops, Inc., the organization exists to unite citizens and law enforcement personnel in support of local youth while helping children navigate “growing up, life and the real world.”

The camp has also become a familiar tradition for many deputies who volunteer year after year, often forming lasting connections with campers and families throughout the community.

Even after the temporary pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, the program quickly returned in 2021 with the same message it still uses today: “The Best Camp Ever.”
