Dutch Bros Plans New South Fry Road Location Near Spring Green Boulevard in Katy
Katy residents could have another Dutch Bros Coffee on the way, this time along South Fry Road near Spring Green Boulevard in Fort Bend County near Seven Lakes High School.
A state project filing lists a new Dutch Bros Coffee at South Fry Road and Spring Green Boulevard in Katy, with construction currently scheduled to begin Feb. 24, 2027, and wrap up July 28, 2027. The project carries an estimated construction cost of $750,000.
Plans call for a new approximately 986-square-foot freestanding coffee shop with both drive-thru and walk-up service areas, along with related site improvements. The filing provides a construction timeline rather than a confirmed opening date, so residents should expect additional details as the project moves through development.
Another Dutch Bros for the Katy Area
The South Fry Road project would expand a Dutch Bros presence that is already familiar to many Katy-area coffee drinkers.
Dutch Bros currently lists three Katy locations:
- 5840 N. Fry Road
- 22719 Morton Ranch Road
- 1709 Spring Green Boulevard
The planned South Fry Road shop would give the company another location serving the rapidly developed neighborhoods and commercial corridors of south Katy.
Dutch Bros has also been steadily growing its footprint across the Houston area, with locations in communities such as Cypress, Richmond, Sugar Land, Missouri City, Spring and Humble. The company’s location directory currently shows eight shops within Houston city limits and 232 across Texas, reflecting just how quickly the Oregon-based coffee chain has expanded across the state.
From an Oregon Pushcart to More Than 1,200 Shops
Dutch Bros traces its roots to 1992, when brothers Dane and Travis Boersma began serving espresso from a pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon. The company has since grown into one of the country's largest drive-thru beverage chains, with 1,225 locations across 25 states as of June 30, 2026.
Its growth has been built around relatively small-footprint shops, fast drive-thru service and an unusually broad beverage menu rather than the sit-down coffeehouse model used by some competitors.
Coffee remains at the center of the menu, including lattes, mochas, cold brew, Nitro Cold Brew, blended drinks and the company's popular breve-style beverages. Dutch Bros also offers Rebel energy drinks, teas, lemonades, sodas, protein coffee and seasonal drinks, with more than 25 flavor options available for customization at many shops.
That emphasis on customization is part of what has helped Dutch Bros build a particularly loyal following. Customers can adjust flavors, milk choices, sweetness levels and toppings, while the company's walk-up windows and employee-focused "broista" culture are intended to make the experience more personal than a typical drive-thru stop.
What the South Fry Road Project Means for Nearby Residents
For neighborhoods around South Fry Road, Spring Green Boulevard and the broader Katy-Fulshear area, the proposed Dutch Bros represents another addition to a corridor that continues to attract restaurants, retailers and service businesses as residential growth pushes farther west and south.
Its planned drive-thru and walk-up design also fits the model Dutch Bros uses across much of the Houston area. Many local shops operate from early morning into the evening, although hours vary by location.
The project filing does not yet identify an official grand opening date, operating hours or hiring timeline for the South Fry Road location. Those details typically become clearer closer to completion.
For now, the filing gives Katy residents an early look at another recognizable national brand preparing to invest along one of the area's busy neighborhood corridors.
