Katy Communicator Families Invited to HCESD 48 Halloween-Themed Open House on October 18
For families looking for something fun, educational and a little Halloween-inspired this fall, Harris County Emergency Services District 48 is opening its fire station doors for an afternoon designed to bring neighbors and first responders together.
The HCESD 48 Open House will take place Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at HCESD 48 Fire Stations 3 and 5. Residents of Katy Communicator are invited to bring the whole family to meet local firefighters and emergency personnel while getting an up-close look at the equipment, training and teamwork involved in responding to emergencies.
Fire Trucks, Life Flight and Hands-On Safety Demonstrations
The Halloween-themed community open house will include plenty for children and adults to explore.
Visitors can tour fire trucks and ambulances, see a Life Flight helicopter, watch a Spray House demonstration and observe a live vehicle extrication demonstration showing how emergency crews work to safely remove occupants from damaged vehicles.
For younger guests, the event will also feature face painting and a balloon artist, giving the afternoon a family-friendly festival feel alongside the public safety education.
Events like the HCESD 48 Open House give residents an opportunity to see emergency response work from a different perspective. Instead of meeting firefighters and paramedics during a crisis, families can ask questions, learn about emergency equipment and help children become more comfortable with the people who may one day arrive to help them.
A Chance for Katy Communicator Families to Meet Their First Responders
For residents in Katy Communicator, the open house is also a chance to strengthen the connection between local families and the first responders serving their area.
Children who are fascinated by fire engines can climb aboard for a closer look, while parents can learn more about fire safety, emergency medical services and the specialized tools crews use during rescues.
The combination of demonstrations, tours and Halloween-themed activities makes the event an easy way to spend part of a Sunday while also picking up practical safety knowledge that families can take home with them.
