Jimmie Allen to Headline Kids' Meals 14th Annual Harvest Luncheon

Kids’ Meals, a nonprofit that makes and delivers free meals to poverty-stricken preschool-aged children, with Jimmie Allen, a CMA “New Artist of the Year”, will raise funds to help end childhood hunger in Houston at the 14th Annual Harvest Luncheon.

Kids’ Meals and Luncheon Co-chairs Kathleen Pennington and Julie Applegate, will welcome guests to the Harvest Luncheon at Marriott Marquis Houston on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM.

Allen will take the luncheon stage to share his story of struggles of poverty and mental illness with more than 1,400 attendees from corporations, foundations, and generous Houstonians. KPRC’s Khambrel Marshall will serve as the emcee and join Allen onstage for an intimate Q&A.

During the inspiring, engaging, and entertaining afternoon Kids’ Meals will honor Valero as the Corporate Honoree, Kroger as the Collaborative Corporate Honoree, The Astros Foundation as the Volunteer Group of the Year, Drs. Nicci and Chris Greeley as the Burrelle Legacy Honoree, and Brandy and Zach Dworaczyk as the Golda & Gill Baker Honoree. Kids’ Meals will also recognize Volunteer of the Year recipients Vanessa Gobel, Donna Jett, and Helen Pung for their ongoing, strong support.

To deliver hope to the future of Houston by investing in the next generation, guests can purchase one ticket for $100 or three tickets for $270 to enter a raffle for the chance to win a 4.66-carat Valobra Master Jewelers cocktail ring handmade in 18K yellow gold. A raffle for the chance to win a gift card wreath or a boozed-filled Yeti is also available for one ticket for $25 or five for $100.

A silent auction curated by Silent Auction Chair and Décor Co-chair Michele Holbrooke, will feature luxury and unique items including 2023 Houston Astros regular season home game voucher for 22 suite tickets, a Houston Astros first pitch and four tickets to a regular season home game package, a custom sports coat by b.Kreps & Co, a Jimmie Allen signed guitar, a seven-day stay at a South Carolina oceanfront home, along with a live painting by acclaimed Houston artist Taft McWhorter.

Since 2016, Kids’ Meals has distributed more than 9 million healthy meals to food-insecure preschool-aged children. The program grew more than 135 percent almost overnight during the peak of the pandemic to feed more than 7,500 children each day.

Every $2 raised makes and delivers a free health meal to a hungry child in Houston.
