Jason's Deli Set to Open Second Katy Location

July 05 2024

A new Jason's Deli is set to make its home at 7114 South Fry Road, marking the second location of the chain in Katy. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), construction of the 4,727 square foot restaurant is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and is expected to wrap up by January 2026.

Jason's Deli is a family-owned business that operates approximately 250 delis across 28 states, offering a selection of handcrafted bowls, salads, sandwiches, Muffalettas, baked potatoes, and pastas. The business prides itself on its commitment to ‘clean’ food, working closely with its trusted vendors to ensure the ingredients used are both wholesome and healthy.

This focus on better food began back in 2000 when Jason’s Deli executives decided to eliminate trans fat from their menu. Despite the challenges this posed due to the lack of substitutes at the time, the company collaborated with vendors to develop healthier, yet still tasty, alternatives. By 2005, all Jason’s Deli menus were declared “Trans Fat Free” after 47 ingredients were replaced over a five-year period.

The company also works with specific vendors to provide authentic ingredients. For instance, the muffaletta bread used in their dishes is shipped from Leidenheimer Baking Co. in New Orleans, following a unique relationship established in the late '70s by the company's founder, Joe Tortorice Jr.

In its mission to serve food as close as possible to its natural source, Jason's Deli has taken various steps, such as removing red dye from its marinara sauce and artificial flavors from its vanilla ice milk. Furthermore, since 2005, the restaurant chain has removed several artificial and potentially harmful substances from its food, including MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, dyes, and artificial colors and flavors.

Every Jason's Deli location guarantees freshly sliced premium meats and real cheeses daily, whole produce delivered throughout the week, and a variety of original recipes. The deli also serves a range of select, fresh-brewed coffees and tea originating from Africa to the Americas.

Stay tuned for updates as the new Katy location comes to life.
