Please be advised that the Board has updated the Architectural Review Guidelines. Please review them on the website as well. Specifically, there have been changes to the fence guidelines.

WESTCREEK CRIME WATCH COMMITTEE

Please see the following notes taken by Crime Watch Committee Member Roxanne Tiner at the HOA annual meeting in regard to Crime Watch:
  • Sgt. Hardcastle attended and complimented Westcreek and Copperfield as a whole for being a low crime area. He stated that there are less than 10 crimes a month that take place within Copperfield. He was complimentary of the residents of Copperfield who keep a watchful eye out at all times and do not hesitate to call the Sheriff’s Department to report suspicious activity.
  • Sgt. also attributed the low crime rate to the deputies who are designated for this area keeping the rate low; it helps to have deputies on site for quick response.
  • He also said one of the deputies first duties when he took over was to report any street light outages to Centerpoint. He encouraged us to spread the word to our neighbors and to the block captains to keep our porch and garage lights on at night. Lights on in back yard areas near the green belt would help tremendously. Any street light outage should be reported to Centerpoint immediately. Lighting up areas helps to prevent crime.
  • Sgt. also discussed a porch pirate surveillance endeavor, but unfortunately no criminal took the bait.
  • An attendee addressed the speeding issue in the neighborhood and Sgt. agreed Queenston, Hwy 6 and 529 are out of control but unfortunately, there are not enough deputies to cover and address this issue. He can put in a request, but if neighbors call the Sheriff’s Department and complain, the issue most likely would be addressed sooner. Sgt. even said vehicles were passing him on his way over. He could not believe the attitude of driver’s who knowingly speed past a patrol car.
  • Another community member asked how much a speed monitoring device like the one owned by Southcreek would cost. The Board said it was expensive but could be looked into.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

The following is an end of the year report by the Landscape Committee. It was presented at the annual HOA meeting in November. The list is not prioritized but depicts the many decisions and accomplishments of the committee. Thank you to all committee members for your support and volunteer time for the Westcreek Community.
  • Completion of trimming of trees down Forest Heights. This was a two-year project due to the cost and amount of trees.
  • Bids accepted for tree trimming of most cul de sacs and setbacks along the greenbelt. It will be the tree trimming project for 2022.
  • The winter freeze destroyed over 400 shrubs and 7 ornamental trees. The shrubs were replanted with work completed in mid-November.
  • It was a lovely wildflower season and beds were left unmowed for several months in hopes that the flowers will reseed.
  • A boy scout installed another native Texas bed on the greenbelt as part of his Eagle Scout project. It is located at the far end of the greenbelt at the triangle. There is signage designating its location.
  • Pet waste stations were installed along the greenbelt in 3 locations and these have been a huge success.
  • Flowers were planted at both pools by committee members before opening of the pools.
  • Seasonal color was installed twice yearly.
  • AT&T finally removed all debris and unattended equipment from the greenbelt after much prodding by the committee.
  • The Yard of the Month had another successful year and thank you to all judges.
  • Christmas décor judging took place on Sunday, Dec. 12 . It was a fun event and thanks to these volunteer judges as well.
