In Jamestown Colony, many of the things that shape how the neighborhood looks and feels are simple, everyday habits.

Keeping the lawn trimmed, clearing debris from the curb, bringing trash cans back in after collection and checking HOA requirements before making an exterior change may seem like small tasks, but together they can make a noticeable difference across the community.

The Jamestown Colony Homeowners Association has shared a set of community expectations intended to help residents understand what is required and where to turn when questions come up.

Yard Care and Property Upkeep

Residents are asked to keep turf below five inches in height and remove dirt and other debris from the curb line adjoining their property.

Dead trees and tree limbs should also be removed as soon as possible. Storm debris is handled separately, which is especially important after severe weather when larger cleanup efforts may be underway.

Window air-conditioning units should not be installed where they are visible from public view.

For many homeowners, these expectations are simply part of routine property maintenance, but having the standards clearly spelled out can help prevent uncertainty.

Trash and Recycling Timing

Jamestown Colony residents should not place trash or recycling receptacles at the curb before 4 p.m. the day before collection.

After collection, receptacles should be removed from street view by noon the following day.

Those timeframes give residents a practical window for setting containers out and bringing them back in while helping limit how long trash and recycling bins remain along neighborhood streets.

Questions about trash, recycling, water or sanitary sewer service can be directed to Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 102 through HCMUD102.org.

The district website also provides information related to the Colonies Neighborhood Center and other community updates.

Planning a Change to Your Home?

Residents considering an exterior improvement should complete and submit any required Architectural Change request as early as possible.

That can include projects where residents may not be certain whether approval is needed. Checking first can help avoid delays or misunderstandings once a project is already underway.

Communication Matters, Too

One of the most important reminders from the HOA is that residents are encouraged to communicate with the board through the community’s management company when they have comments, questions or concerns.

That could mean asking for clarification about a rule, raising an issue that needs attention or sharing feedback about the neighborhood.

Community participation can be especially helpful when residents want to better understand why something is handled a certain way or believe an issue deserves further discussion.

For non-emergency concerns involving street parking, noise or suspicious activity, residents can contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 713-221-6000. 

Emergencies should always be reported to 911.
