For families looking for a Cypress Halloween event that combines trick-or-treating with an easygoing community atmosphere, a familiar fall tradition is returning to the Berry Center this October.

The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department will host its Back the Boo Trunk or Treat from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress. Families are encouraged to come in costume for an evening centered around candy, Halloween fun and a chance for children, parents and community members to spend time together outside the usual school-day setting.

The event also gives Cypress residents, businesses and community organizations an opportunity to help behind the scenes. CFISD Police is seeking donations of new, individually wrapped candy to help keep participating trunks stocked and children’s treat bags full throughout the night.

A Cypress Halloween Tradition Returns With a New Name

The 2026 event continues a community tradition that brought families together at the Berry Center last fall.

In 2025, the annual CFISD Police trunk-or-treat drew families to the venue for an evening of costumes, decorated vehicles, candy and activities. The event was designed as a family-friendly alternative for Halloween fun while also creating opportunities for children and parents to interact with local law enforcement and other community partners in a relaxed setting.

This year, the event is being promoted as Back the Boo, keeping the trunk-or-treat format while putting the CFISD Police Department front and center as host.

For families who have attended in previous years, the return offers another chance to build a fall tradition close to home. For newcomers to Cypress or families with younger children experiencing their first community Halloween event, it provides a simple way to take part without traveling far from the neighborhood.

What Families Should Know About Back the Boo

Back the Boo is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Center in Cypress.

Families are encouraged to wear costumes and come ready for a night of trunk-or-treating, candy and Halloween-themed fun. The event is intended for the whole family, making it an option for parents searching for family-friendly Halloween activities in Cypress, trunk or treat events near Cypress, or seasonal events connected to Cy-Fair ISD.

The Berry Center’s location along Barker Cypress Road also makes the event accessible to families throughout the greater Cy-Fair area, including communities surrounding Cypress, Copperfield, Towne Lake, Bridgeland and nearby northwest Harris County neighborhoods.

Candy Donations Can Help Keep the Trunks Full

While families are already being invited to attend, CFISD Police is also asking the community to help make the event successful before the first costume arrives.

Organizers are requesting donations of new, individually wrapped candy, with every donated bag helping provide treats for the children and families expected to attend.

The request opens the door for participation beyond those who will be trick-or-treating that evening. CFISD staff members, local businesses, neighborhood groups, civic organizations and individual residents can all contribute to the event by donating candy or asking how they can become more involved.

That community participation can make a noticeable difference at an event built around hundreds of small interactions — a decorated trunk, a handful of candy, a child showing off a costume or a quick conversation between a family and a police officer.

Events such as Back the Boo give families another way to connect with the people who serve their schools and neighborhoods.

The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department provides law enforcement and safety services across CFISD campuses and district facilities, working throughout the school year to support students, families, staff and administrators. Its role extends beyond emergency response and campus security to include prevention, outreach and relationship-building across the district.

Events like Back the Boo offer a more informal side of that work. Away from the classroom or an emergency situation, families can meet officers, ask questions and build familiarity with the people who help serve CFISD schools. For children, that might simply mean showing off a costume or collecting candy from a decorated trunk, but those small interactions can help make local law enforcement feel more approachable and connected to the community.

For a community as large as Cy-Fair, those shared traditions can also help neighborhoods that may otherwise feel geographically spread out come together in one place.
