A homegrown Houston beverage concept built around getting customers back on the road quickly appears to be heading to Fort Bend County, giving Richmond-area residents another locally rooted option for coffee, matcha, energy drinks and sweet treats.

RoadRunners is planning a new drive-thru location at 19403 W. Bellfort Street in Richmond, according to a recently filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project registration. The location, identified as RoadRunners Waterview, is planned for the Waterview area near W. Bellfort Street and Harlem Road.

The filing calls for approximately $1 million in new construction, including sitework, a ground-up building shell and interior finish-out. The planned building will span about 1,434 square feet, with construction currently scheduled to begin Jan. 4, 2027, and reach completion by March 31, 2027. Construction timelines listed in state filings are estimates and can change as projects move through development.

A Houston-Born Concept Expands Beyond Its First Location

For Richmond and Fort Bend County residents who have not yet encountered RoadRunners, the concept got its start much closer to home than many growing beverage chains.

RoadRunners opened its first location at 9526 Huffmeister Road in the Cypress area in March 2025. The drive-thru-only business was founded by Jonathan Kay, Gabriel Cuneio and Jordan Carbia, with a model centered on combining specialty beverages with unusually fast service. Today, RoadRunners' website lists the Huffmeister location as its current store.

“This concept is all about combining great beverages with an unmatched level of service,” Kay said ahead of the first location's opening. “We want to make it easy for people to grab a quality drink on the go, without the long wait.”

That focus on speed remains one of the young company's most recognizable features. RoadRunners promises orders of up to three drinks in 60 seconds or less, with a free drink if the company misses the mark. Larger orders of four to six drinks carry a 90-second service goal.

“You get the benefits of a premium beverage in just one minute,” Kay previously explained. “It’s a fast-paced, high-quality service, perfect for people who are on the go but still want something special.”

What Is on the RoadRunners Menu?

RoadRunners goes beyond a traditional coffee drive-thru, with a menu spanning iced lattes, espresso drinks, organic matcha, tea-based energy drinks, gelato milkshakes, protein coffee beverages and snacks. The company also emphasizes ingredients without artificial food dyes, including its house-made syrups.

Among the brand's signature drinks is the Cleopatra, which combines espresso, local Houston honey, salted caramel and milk. The Titan is a mocha espresso drink with 25 grams of protein in a regular size, while the Lavender Fields Matchapairs ceremonial-grade matcha with milk and lavender-vanilla syrup.

For customers looking beyond coffee, the Vader combines house-made hibiscus mint tea, lemonade and blackberry, while the Purple Rain blends butterfly pea tea, lemonade and vanilla. RoadRunners also serves gelato shakes in flavors including Mexican Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry and Mint Oreo.

The variety gives the planned Richmond RoadRunners location a potentially broader audience than morning coffee commuters alone. Matcha drinkers, families looking for an evening shake and customers seeking a quick afternoon pick-me-up are all part of the concept's mix. Its existing Houston location operates from early morning until midnight Monday through Saturday, according to the company's website.

RoadRunners Waterview Adds Another New Option for Richmond

The planned Richmond location would also represent a notable step in RoadRunners' growth. When the company's first Cypress-area store was under development, Kay said the long-term vision was to make quality beverages more accessible while keeping an emphasis on community, service and innovation. In 2025, the company discussed plans for additional locations as it worked toward a larger Houston-area footprint.

At 1,434 square feet, RoadRunners Waterview would also be larger than the brand's original Huffmeister project. State records for that first location described an 841-square-foot drive-thru beverage building with a prep kitchen, restroom and office.

For residents in the fast-growing Richmond and Fort Bend County area, the new filing is another sign of continued commercial investment around W. Bellfort Street and the Waterview area. It also brings a distinctly Houston-born business into a market filled with national coffee and beverage competitors.

For now, RoadRunners Waterview remains a planned construction project, and an official opening date has not been announced. If the current construction schedule holds, however, residents could begin seeing work take shape in early 2027.
