Hot Dogs, Hospitality, and a Surprise Squall: Williamsburg Settlement Celebrates National Night Out 2025
Residents of Williamsburg Settlement turned out in great numbers on the evening of October 7, 2025, to take part in the neighborhood’s annual National Night Out celebration at the community clubhouse on Hoyt Lane. The two-hour event, part of the national campaign to promote neighborhood camaraderie and public safety partnerships, featured free food, kids’ activities, and a chance to connect with local first responders.
From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the clubhouse was full of friendly faces — kids bounced in the inflatable house, families met with community organizations, and dozens lined up for grilled hot dogs prepared by a team of resident volunteers. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming despite a quick-moving squall that brought the festivities to an early close.
Dave Ellis with the Williamsburg Settlement HOA offered heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a part in making the event a success. “Many thanks to everyone who attended, especially the sponsors, the HSCO and EMS 48,” he said. “It was great seeing neighbors come out and enjoy time together.”
The event was powered by community members who stepped up to help with planning, setup, and, of course, grilling. “Sachie Etherington did most of the organizing, and she really made this event happen,” Ellis noted. “Franklin Allaire was both our master chef and MC, and President Heather Colkos kept everything running smoothly.”
Even the food was a community effort. “John Martin was a really big help, as was Kelly Colkos working the grill,” Ellis added. “We couldn’t have pulled this off without everyone pitching in.”
While the rain may have shortened the evening, it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the event. “A pity it was cut a little short by the unexpected squall, but this didn’t detract from a wonderful evening,” Ellis said. “Hope to see you all again at this event next year!”
