Help Keep Lakemont Beautiful
June 22 2022
We love that so many of our residents have really taken their yards to the next level. There are so many well-kept yards in the neighborhood. That being said, we are right in the thick of the growing season, and I wanted to inform you regarding some of the aspects our inspectors are looking for when they drive the neighborhood.
-
Mow, Edge, and Weed Eat - We recommend doing regular yard maintenance every 7-10 days. We realize that many residents have their yard serviced bi-weekly, but obviously we do not know which homes. So, if the inspectors come through and you are at the end of 2 full weeks of growth, you may receive a letter. They must send it, because sometimes, yards get so bad that we have to force mow them. This cannot be done without the letter being sent giving the owner 10 days to rectify.
-
Weeds in Flowerbeds - Keep your flower beds clean and weed free.
-
Overgrown Shrubs – Trimming shrubs is not a regular maintenance item, but it does need to be done every couple of months. Also, be sure that address numbers are not covered by shrubs. Emergency personnel will use these to identify your home if needed.
-
Dead Shrubs and Plant Material – Please remove any dead plant material from your yard or flowerbeds.
-
Tree Trimming – Please ensure that all tree canopies are a minimum of 8 feet above the sidewalks and street. Emergency vehicles and school buses need a clear path to maneuver through the streets.
-
Bare Areas – please sod any bare areas in the yard. To keep the sod alive, pruning the tree canopies to let some light through may be necessary.
