Hays County Approves Vote Center Locations for March Primary Election, Expanding Voter Access Across San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and Beyond
Voters across Hays County will have more flexibility at the polls this spring after the Hays County Commissioners Court approved a comprehensive list of vote center locations for the upcoming joint primary election. The decision, finalized on January 20, allows eligible voters to cast their ballots at any open polling location in the county, both during early voting and on Election Day.
Rather than assigning voters to a single polling place, Hays County will once again use the vote center model for the primary election. This approach is designed to make voting more accessible by allowing residents to choose the location that best fits their schedule or commute. All vote centers will be equipped to serve voters participating in either the Republican or Democratic primary.
“The Vote Center system gives voters flexibility and removes barriers to participation,” said Hays County Elections Administrator Jennifer Doinoff. “Voters can cast their ballot at any open location, whether they vote early or on Election Day.”
Vote Centers Available Throughout Hays County
Approved vote center locations span San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Wimberley, Dripping Springs, and parts of Austin within Hays County. Several locations will also serve as early voting sites, including the Hays County Elections Office on Stagecoach Trail in San Marcos, Kyle City Hall, Buda City Hall and Library, and multiple community centers and fire stations throughout the county.
Notable early voting locations include the LBJ Student Center at Texas State University, the San Marcos Public Library, Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs, and the Wimberley Community Center. Each location is ADA accessible and offers curbside voting to ensure all eligible voters can participate.

Key Dates for Early Voting and Voting by Mail
Early in-person voting begins Monday, February 17, and continues through Thursday, February 27. County officials encourage voters to take advantage of this window to avoid potential lines and last-minute issues closer to Election Day.
Voters planning to vote by mail should act quickly. The deadline to apply for a Ballot by Mail is Friday, February 20. Applications submitted too close to the deadline may risk ballots arriving too late to be counted.
Election Day for the joint primary election is Tuesday, March 3. As with early voting, voters may use any open vote center location in Hays County on Election Day.
“The most important thing for voters to remember is that they can vote anywhere in Hays County during early voting and on Election Day,” Doinoff added. “We encourage voters to cast their ballots early to avoid potential lines on Election Day.”
Staying Informed Before You Vote
With dozens of vote centers spread across the county, election officials recommend that voters plan ahead by confirming locations and hours before heading to the polls. Up-to-date information on polling places, early voting schedules, and voting by mail is available on the Hays County Elections website.
As the primary election approaches, county leaders say the goal remains simple: make voting as convenient, accessible, and community-focused as possible for every eligible voter in Hays County.
