Hays CISD Family Wellness Series Continues April 14 with Virtual Session on Parenting Strategies for Children with ADHD
As families across Hays County continue to navigate the academic, emotional, and social pressures facing students today, Hays CISD is offering parents another opportunity to gain practical guidance and support.
The district’s Family Wellness Series, a set of evidence-based virtual workshops focused on student mental health and well-being, will host its next session on Tuesday, April 14 from 6–7 p.m. via Zoom. The session will focus on “Parenting Strategies for Children with ADHD,” providing families with tools to better understand attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and support children both in school and at home.
For many parents, especially those raising children with learning or attention differences, access to reliable information and practical strategies can make a meaningful difference. The April session is designed to help families build supportive environments that allow students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Supporting Student Mental Health in Hays CISD
The Hays CISD Family Wellness Series was developed to equip parents and guardians with resources that support student wellness. The virtual sessions are facilitated by the Safe School Institute and TCHATT clinicians in partnership with the Hays CISD Counseling Department, bringing together professionals who work directly with youth mental health and school environments.
The series addresses a wide range of issues affecting students today, including bullying, anxiety, cyber safety, grief, substance abuse prevention, and the impact of social media on mental health. Each session focuses on practical strategies families can apply immediately.
All workshops are held virtually from 6–7 p.m., making it easier for busy families across the district to participate from home. Sessions are presented in English with Spanish closed captions available, helping ensure accessibility for more households in the community.
April Session Focus: Parenting Strategies for Children with ADHD
The upcoming April 14 session will explore how ADHD affects children’s development and what families can do to support them effectively.
During the presentation, clinicians will discuss:
- How ADHD influences academic performance, social interactions, and emotional development
- The unique strengths and challenges many children with ADHD experience
- Practical strategies parents can use to manage behaviors and create supportive learning environments
- Ways families can partner with schools to help students succeed
The session aims to help parents better understand how ADHD may shape their child’s school experience, from classroom focus to relationships with peers. By learning evidence-based approaches, families can develop strategies that encourage resilience, confidence, and long-term success.

What Happens Next in the Family Wellness Series
Following the April workshop, the series will conclude the spring schedule with a May 12 session on “Social Media and Mental Health,” presented by the Safe School Institute. That discussion will explore how social media influences student well-being and provide guidance for families seeking to create healthier digital environments at home.
As schools increasingly recognize the connection between academic success and mental wellness, programs like the Hays CISD Family Wellness Series are becoming an important resource for families seeking guidance and partnership.
Parents across the district who want to better support their children’s mental health, learning needs, and online safety can participate from home while gaining practical tools designed for today’s school environment.
