Harris County to Host Series of Property Tax Workshops for Homeowners from June 17-21

The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector, in collaboration with the Harris Central Appraisal District and the Harris County Attorney's Office, is organizing a series of free property tax workshops scheduled to run from June 17 to June 21. The purpose of these workshops is to help taxpayers understand how to potentially reduce their tax burden through various means, such as protesting their values and applying for exemptions, as well as set up payment plans for delinquent property taxes. 

Monday, June 17 at 11:00 AM

Tracy Gee Community Center (Harris County Precinct 4)

Address: 3599 Westcenter Dr, Houston, TX 77042

The first workshop is set to take place at Tracy Gee Community Center. The event is part of the Property Tax Assistance Week, a program designed to assist property owners with delinquent property taxes before the July 1st deadline.

Tom Bass Senior Center (Harris County Precinct 1)

Address: 15108 Cullen Blvd, Houston, TX 77047

The next stop on the workshop itinerary is the Tom Bass Senior Center. Here, a 45-minute session will provide attendees with an understanding of how property taxes are calculated and what their payment plan options are.

For those unable to attend the in-person events, this 45-minute workshop covers the calculation of property taxes, eligibility for residence homestead exemptions, methods of property tax payment, and available payment plans.

Trini Mendenhall Community Center, Room 106 (Harris County Precinct 3)

After a break on June 19 in honour of Juneteenth, Property Tax Assistance Week continues at the Trini Mendenhall Community Center on June 20. The workshop will cover similar topics to those addressed at previous locations, with key emphasis on residence homestead exemptions.

Deputy Darren Almendarez Community Center (Harris County Precinct 2)

The series of workshops concludes at the Deputy Darren Almendarez Community Center. The final workshop will mirror previous sessions, providing a final opportunity for attendees to learn about property taxes, residence homestead exemptions, and available payment plans.
