Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg Takes Shape as New Elementary Campus Targets 2027 Opening

Richmond / Rosenberg
October 05 2026

For families watching Rosenberg and Fort Bend County continue to grow, another public school option is beginning to take shape.

Harmony Public Schools recently marked a construction milestone for Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg, a new elementary school planned to open for the 2027–28 school year. District leaders, community members and project partners gathered at the future campus for a beam signing ceremony, putting their names and messages on a piece of the school that will become part of the new facility.

The ceremony offered an early look at a project that could ultimately become much larger than a single elementary school. Harmony's plans call for the first phase to serve up to 650 students in Pre-K through fifth grade, while leaving room for additional schools as the Rosenberg campus develops over time.

A 20-Acre Campus Planned With Room to Grow

Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg is being developed on a 20-acre site at 2425 Spacek Rd, Richmond, TX 77469, with the elementary school serving as the first piece of a master-planned educational campus. Future plans envision adjacent middle and high school facilities, which could eventually create a continuous Pre-K through 12th-grade Harmony pathway for families in the Rosenberg area.

Inside the new elementary school, plans include modern classrooms, STEM labs and makerspaces designed for hands-on learning, along with outdoor play areas geared toward younger students. The emphasis on spaces where children can build, experiment and solve problems reflects an approach Harmony has developed across its Texas schools. Its makerspaces have incorporated tools ranging from 3D printers and laser cutters to programmable hardware used for student projects.

For Rosenberg families, the project means more than a new building. Once open, the campus will add another tuition-free public school choice for parents weighing elementary education options in the area, with the possibility of additional grade levels being served on the same site in the years ahead.

Harmony's Texas Story Began in Houston

The Rosenberg expansion also brings Harmony Public Schools closer to where its story began.

Harmony opened its first school in Houston in 2000 with about 200 students. More than 25 years later, the tuition-free public charter school network has grown to more than 70 schools serving roughly 50,000 students across Texas. Its educational model places a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, along with college and career preparation, character education and project-based learning.

That history helps put the new Rosenberg school into perspective. What began as one Houston campus is continuing to expand across the region, including in communities southwest of Houston. Harmony also celebrated a beam signing in September for its first Missouri City campus, another Fort Bend County project under construction.

Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg is expected to open as part of a Harmony district that the school system says earned an A rating under the Texas Education Agency's 2026 accountability ratings.

What Rosenberg Families Should Know About Enrollment

Although Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg is not scheduled to welcome students until the 2027–28 school year, families interested in Harmony do not necessarily have to wait until the new campus opens.

Harmony Public Schools' open enrollment period begins Nov. 1 for families interested in applying to existing campuses. As a public charter school system, Harmony is tuition-free and open to students, with applications used to determine enrollment interest and available space.

The district has encouraged families interested specifically in Harmony Science Academy-Rosenberg to follow its enrollment information as the campus moves closer to opening.

For now, the signed construction beam represents a visible marker of what is coming. As classrooms, STEM spaces and play areas rise around it, the new campus will give Rosenberg families another education option and establish the foundation for what Harmony envisions as a larger Pre-K–12 presence in the community.
