Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Launch 2026 Cookie Season with New Exploremores™ and a Legacy of Leadership
For over a century, Girl Scouts have sold cookies — not just as a sweet treat but as a powerful vehicle for entrepreneurship, leadership, and lifelong skill-building. In 2026, that tradition continues in the Greater Houston Area, as the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council officially kick off their annual cookie season with an exciting new addition and a renewed commitment to empowering girls across Southeast Texas.
A Legacy of Cookies and Courage
The Girl Scout Cookie™ Program began in 1917, when a troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma baked cookies at home and sold them in their school cafeteria as a service project. What began as a grassroots effort quickly grew into the world’s largest girl-led entrepreneurial program. For generations, these iconic cookies have helped girls learn to set goals, manage money, communicate with customers, and develop business ethics.
Today, the program funds local experiences like summer camps, STEM workshops, travel, and service projects — all while supporting Girl Scouts’ mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
“Girl Scout Cookie season is always a moment of joy and tradition, and this year promises to be incredibly exciting,” said Wendy Lou, who oversees the national cookie program. “We're thrilled to introduce the new, delicious Exploremores™ cookie to the iconic cookie lineup people know and love. With every purchase, consumers directly support local Girl Scouts' abilities to explore more opportunities in STEM, the outdoors and more.”

Supporting Local Girls in Houston
In the San Jacinto Council, which serves 26 counties across Southeast Texas, cookie proceeds directly support programs that help girls explore science, engineering, leadership, and outdoor adventure. Whether attending Camp Misty Meadows, building robots, or advocating for their communities, local Girl Scouts are discovering who they are and who they want to become.
This commitment to leadership is nothing new. The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council has a long and storied history dating back to 1921, when it was founded by Corinne Fonde and Frances Mann Law. By 1922, it had earned the second official charter ever granted in Texas. Over the years, the council grew into one of the largest in the country and pioneered several national cookie program milestones — including hosting the largest single cookie sale in the U.S. in 1988.

As this year’s national sponsor, Adobe is also equipping girls with digital design tools through a new learning experience on the Digital Cookie® platform. The goal: help girls express their individuality while developing responsible digital skills.
