Georgetown Colony Refreshes Neighborhood Entrance Landscaping, With Help From a Dedicated Local Resident
Residents of Georgetown Colony may have noticed some welcome changes around the neighborhood.
Fresh landscaping now surrounds the community's entrance monument, while a newly planted garden bed on E. Rutledge Court has given surviving plants a second home. Both improvements are part of an effort to keep Georgetown Colony looking its best, with a little help from one resident who has taken a personal interest in caring for the neighborhood.
The updates come after a difficult summer for the community's landscaping. Extreme heat, combined with a failed irrigation system, took a heavy toll on the plants surrounding the Georgetown Colony entrance. Rather than simply replacing what was lost, the community took the opportunity to introduce landscaping better suited to the challenges of Houston-area weather.
New Landscaping Gives Georgetown Colony's Entrance a Fresh Look
Yellowstone Landscaping designed and completed the entrance renovation, installing new plants selected for their ability to tolerate both intense summer heat and freezing winter temperatures.
The updated design also keeps the plants low enough to preserve visibility of the Georgetown Colony entrance monument, maintaining the familiar appearance of the neighborhood's main entryway while giving the surrounding landscape a cleaner, refreshed look.
For residents who pass the entrance each day, the improvements are a practical investment in the appearance and upkeep of a shared community space. The selection of more weather-tolerant plants is also intended to help the landscaping better withstand future seasonal temperature extremes.

Georgetown Colony Resident Jesse Valdez Gives Surviving Plants a New Home
The landscaping improvements did not stop at the neighborhood entrance.
Instead of discarding the plants that survived the summer's difficult conditions, Georgetown Colony resident Jesse Valdez transplanted them to a new landscape bed he created on E. Rutledge Court.
The new planting area enhances the cul-de-sac near a Bald Cypress tree that Valdez planted last spring, building on work he has already contributed to that part of the neighborhood.
His efforts have helped make use of plants that might otherwise have been overlooked while adding another landscaped area for nearby homeowners and neighbors to enjoy.
Valdez, who also works in residents' yards throughout Georgetown Colony, has continued to contribute his time and landscaping skills to improving the community's appearance.
A Small Gesture of Thanks for a Neighbor Making a Difference
Neighborhood improvements often involve professional contractors, planning and maintenance, but sometimes they also come from residents who simply care about the place they call home.
The work on E. Rutledge Court is one such example. By creating a new planting bed and giving existing plants another opportunity to grow, Valdez has helped Georgetown Colony make the most of its landscaping resources while adding a personal touch to a shared neighborhood space.
Residents are encouraged to thank Jesse the next time they see him working in the neighborhood. His contributions, from planting the Bald Cypress last spring to completing the new landscape bed this year, have made a visible difference.
Together, the renovated entrance and improvements along E. Rutledge Court reflect the ongoing attention given to Georgetown Colony's common areas and the value of neighbors taking pride in their surroundings.
