From Farmhouse to Foundation: Katy Native Rhonda Kaiser Debuts First Book with Heartfelt Signing Event

August 27 2025

For Rhonda Kaiser, publishing her first book felt like the next natural step in a life shaped by design, gardening, and community. A Katy ISD graduate and longtime local resident, Kaiser has spent years cultivating her signature vintage farmhouse style through her platform Southern Home & Farm. This fall, she’s bringing that creative journey full circle with the launch of her debut book, The Vintage Farmhouse Garden—and she’s celebrating right here at home.

On Tuesday, October 22 from 2:00–5:00 p.m., Kaiser will host a special book signing event at Southern Dough Baking Company, a favorite gathering spot in Katy. The event offers more than just an opportunity to meet the author—it’s also a chance to support local education. A portion of book sales from the signing will benefit the Katy ISD Education Foundation, helping fund innovative teaching grants across the district.

Inspired by Home, Family, and a Love for Vintage Charm

Rhonda’s journey to The Vintage Farmhouse Garden began with her hands in the soil and a camera in hand. “Southern Home & Farm is my pursuit of all things garden, design, vintage décor and farm,” she writes. “I believe in sharing my knowledge, growing beautiful things—including this community—and by giving back and encouraging others to do the same.”

A Katy ISD graduate who went on to study at Texas A&M University and later pursued interior and landscape design, Rhonda’s work is steeped in experience and heart. Her farmhouse—a peaceful escape she shares with her husband and daughter—became the backdrop for years of creative expression, from learning floral design to becoming a certified Texas Master Gardener.

Her debut book, released this fall, brings together everything she’s learned and loved over the years.

A Garden Book That Feels Like a Conversation Over Coffee

The Vintage Farmhouse Garden is as much a lifestyle guide as it is a garden book. In its pages, readers will find practical tips for planning outdoor spaces, curating vintage collections, styling porches, and even entertaining in every season. There’s a focus on both form and function—pollinator-friendly planting, edible blooms, layered garden beds—and yet the tone remains approachable and warm.

Chapters like “A Porch to Ponder” and “Friends Among Flowers” read like an invitation to slow down and appreciate the quiet beauty of home life. Whether readers live in the city, suburbs, or on a slice of land like Rhonda does, her philosophy is simple: beauty blooms wherever you make room for it.

Giving Back to the Schools That Helped Her Grow

While launching a debut book is a milestone on its own, Rhonda was intentional about making it a way to give back. By donating a portion of her Katy book signing proceeds to the Katy ISD Education Foundation, she’s investing in future generations of creatives and problem-solvers.

The Foundation funds innovative teaching grants across Katy ISD, giving educators the tools to dream big and bring fresh ideas into the classroom. For Rhonda, it’s a personal way to say thank you to the district that helped shape her own journey.

An Afternoon to Celebrate Creativity, Community, and Coffee

The October 22 event at Southern Dough Baking Company promises a relaxed, come-and-go vibe. Guests can meet Rhonda, get a signed copy of her book, and enjoy the smells of fresh pastries and espresso while catching up with neighbors.

Books can be purchased on-site, or preordered from Amazon if guests prefer to bring a copy with them.

Whether you’re a longtime follower of Southern Home & Farm, a garden enthusiast, or simply love supporting local stories, this event offers a chance to be part of something beautifully rooted in Katy.
