Friends of Cinco Ranch Branch Library to Host Annual Book Sale: How You Can Donate and Support Your Local Library
Friends of Cinco Ranch Branch Library is once again gearing up for its annual Book Sale, scheduled for September this year. The library is inviting donations of adult and young adult fiction books in good condition, along with an array of other gently used titles, in preparation for the event.
Donations can be deposited at the Information Desk of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd, Katy, TX 77494, during regular operational hours. The community can contribute towards a treasure trove of items including books, audio CDs, LPs, DVDs, Blu-Ray, and puzzles. However, it’s important to note that not all materials are accepted. The library discourages donations of cassettes, VHS tapes, encyclopedias, legal statutes, case books, National Geographic and magazines, or books that are damp, moldy, dirty, or insect-ridden.
For those who wish to extend their support beyond materials, monetary donations play a critical role in the success of library programs and services. Community members can donate money towards a book in someone’s name, a gesture that not only honours the person in whose name the purchase is made, but also benefits the library and the community at large. There is a variety of donation options available to suit different price ranges, with contributions going towards a diverse range of adult and youth programs, or towards a specific collection.
The Friends of Cinco Ranch Branch Library has a long history as a group of dedicated individuals who utilize their time and expertise to support, promote, and raise awareness of their local library. Their involvement extends to both their specific branch and the broader library system.
By organizing fundraising initiatives like the annual book sale, the Friends groups have been instrumental in augmenting the resources of the library, providing necessary funds for materials, equipment and programming, and beautifying projects not covered in the library's budget. Through their work and generous donation of their time, countless children, teens, seniors, and families in Fort Bend County have benefited from programs such as the Family Reading Club Winter Challenge, Summer Reading Club, various musical and theatrical performances, continuing education programs, and much more.
The Friends of Cinco Ranch Branch Library's annual Book Sale provides a perfect opportunity for the community to purge unneeded items from their homes, contributing to sustainability and promoting thrifty shopping. At the same time, it spearheads the chance to contribute to a worthy cause, ensuring the library continues to be a vital resource in the community.
