Fort Bend Fandom Brings Comics, Cosplay, K-Pop and Gaming to George Memorial Library

July 10 2026

Before summer comes to a close, Fort Bend County families will have one more opportunity to step into a world of superheroes, Pokémon battles, manga, K-Pop and creative costumes.

The 2026 Fort Bend Fandom will take over George Memorial Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, offering a free celebration of gaming, comics, anime, cosplay and the many interests that bring fans together across generations.

Hosted by Fort Bend County Libraries, the event is designed to give anime superfans, spirited cosplayers, comic-book enthusiasts, gamers and curious newcomers a place to share what they enjoy. Activities, refreshments and prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the George Memorial Library.

From learning how voice actors build their careers to creating an original superhero, the day gives children, teens and adults several ways to participate rather than simply watch.

Gaming, Crafts, Movies and More Throughout the Library

Along with the scheduled programs, Fort Bend Fandom will feature ongoing activities in several areas of George Memorial Library.

Board games, tabletop role-playing games, trading-card games and video games will be available in the Meeting Room. The Adult Services Department will host vendors, a raffle and a Manga Reading Café, while children can make crafts in the Youth Services Department.

Karaoke will be offered in Room 2C, movies will be shown in the Computer Lab, and teen and adult crafts will be available in the Café and Study Rooms area.

The mix of activities allows visitors to build their own experience. Families can move between story time, crafts and superhero activities, while older fans can browse vendors, play games, sing karaoke or prepare for the afternoon cosplay contest.

2026 Fort Bend Fandom Schedule

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Comic Book Creations Drawing Class

ARTreach teaching artist Geoff Murphy will lead a hands-on workshop in the Training Lab covering expressive faces, dynamic figures and action poses. The class will be offered again from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Inside Look at Voice Acting

10:30 to 11 a.m. — Interactive Children’s Story Time

Children in grades 1 through 4 can enjoy an interactive program filled with books and laughter in the Children’s Corner. The program will repeat from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

1 to 2 p.m. — Slime Factory

Children in grades 4 through 8 can measure, mix and experiment with materials and add-ins to create a take-home slime project in the Middle Grades area. The program cannot accommodate daycares or school groups.

1:30 to 4 p.m. — Scarlet and Violet Pokémon Video Game Tournament

Gamers ages 10 to 13 can compete in a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet tournament in Room 2A. All contestants will be set at level 50 for the competition.

2 to 4 p.m. — Fort Bend Fandom Cosplay Contest

Cosplayers can put their craftsmanship and creativity on display in the Bohachevsky Gallery by transforming into a favorite character for a chance to win prizes.

What Visitors Should Know Before Attending

Fort Bend Fandom is free and open to the public at George Memorial Library, located at 1001 Golfview Drive in Richmond.

Because much of the building will be used for the event, the library will be partially closed during Fort Bend Fandom. Only check-out services will be available for regular library business.

Registration is required for the Comic Book Creations Drawing Class and the Scarlet and Violet Pokémon Video Game Tournament. Families interested in those programs may want to make plans early because space may be limited.
