Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Honors Personnel for Outstanding Service in Promotions and Awards Ceremony
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office recently honored the hard work, dedication, and commitment of its personnel in a Promotions and Awards Ceremony. The ceremony, held on January 11, 2024 at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, recognized several officers for their tireless contribution to maintaining public safety in the community.
Captain Wayne Hastedt, a veteran public servant, was appointed as the manager of the Pro-Active Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division. With over three decades of experience in the department, Captain Hastedt's promotions over the years have seen him serve in various roles including deputy, detective, field training coordinator, and even President of The Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, displaying his versatility and commitment to the department.
Taking over as the manager of Detention Operations, Captain Angel Rader has served the Sheriff's Office for over 27 years. Throughout her career, she has held positions as a bonding clerk, detention officer, and member of the Honor Guard for nine years, showcasing her comprehensive understanding of the department's workings. In 2002, Captain Rader attended the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy.
Another notable promotion was that of Lieutenant Noel Gonzalez, who has been committed to the Sheriff's Office since March 2000. With positions that ranged from corrections officer, jail deputy, deputy bailiff, to training supervisor for the detention division, Lieutenant Gonzalez's promotion certainly reflection his dedication to the force.
Lieutenant Stephen Navarro, a former serviceman of the United States Navy, has been serving the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office for the past 14 years. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 19 and completed four years honorably, then attended San Jacinto College while employed at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. During his time at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, he attended the University of Houston/Downtown Police Academy, ultimately graduating and finding his permanent home at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
Moreover, several individuals were uplifted to the roles of Sergeant and Investigator, further strengthening the department's efforts towards public safety.
Founded in 1837, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is the largest and most diverse law enforcement agency in Fort Bend County. Housing over 900 employees, inclusive of 615 sworn peace officers, the office serves almost 900,000 residents across the vast county. Covering 885 square miles and including 21 unincorporated communities, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office continues to embody its dedication to protecting and serving its residents.
